Storm Rider:
Except my recommendation is, you know, applicable.

Yes, Testament, sometimes referred to as the fifth member of the Big Four of Thrash, they had fairly good success during the heyday of Bay Area Thrash in the late 80s, but never sold as well as the Big Four itself despite being better than all of them (no disgrace to Anthrax or Megadeth). They had two notable phases, the straight-up thrash period (example song: Into the Pit) of their first 5 releases, followed by a gradual incorporation of death metal into their sound, peaking at 1994's Low, before settling into the  thrash/death hybrid of their latest offering to date, 1999's The Gathering (Do Not Resuscitate). Unfortunately, the diagnosis of their vocalist with a rare type of brain cancer followed by a back injury to their rhythm guitarist/primary songwriter Eric Peterson sidelined their career for several years.

But did I mention THEY'RE BACK TOGETHER AND WILL BE RECORDING SOON HAAGHABAHGALGHBA

See, Tommy's not the only one who can write a crapload about a band nobody else cares about.
