Save your stuff in your house, and spend some time getting into the arcane university instead and learning some spells. also download and install THIS MOD, which actually makes spellcasting a viable alternative to swordery.

with the right skills on board, you will BREEZE through that section.

I believe from the walkthroughs that there is actually no way to get your stuff back.

Spell casting is overpowered already :P It's archery that needs the boost.

That mage staff ? Total imba. Combine it with a weakness to fire spell and thats the only thing you'll need (as well as a soul trap spell and azura's star, anyways)

Man, right on.  I have been stuck on the warriors guild quest where you have to get the stone of st. allessa (or something to that end).  I've made it to the ruins where it is and can even see where the stupid thing is but can't open the steel gate that's blocking the way.  Does anyone know what I'm talking about and have advice?  I'm playing on the 360.

I'm also curious has Betheseda released any of the stuff that is micropayment for the 360 for the computer version?

No clue. I'm on the mage's guild quest to get the book from the count of Skingrad. which for some reason involves meeting the count by the entrance to "cursed mine", West of Skingrad, south of the road.

For some insane reason, the steward gave me no map marker for this haunted mine, and for good measure there's an Oblivion gate about where I think the mine's supposed to be. I used my lightning staff's charges up dealing with the flame atronachs that were prowling the area.

which leads me to the topic of soul trapping. I HATE it when I cast soul trap on something, kill it, and it tells me that I don't have a soul gem in my inventory that's large enough

So my mod idea (if only I knew how to program it) would be to have oversized souls fill multiple gems at once. if I take the soul of a bandit, that soul's too large for any one common gem. so fill one soul gem, and partially fill another! where's the difficulty in that?

In the end game, which I hit absurdly quickly, you get Azura's star and more grand gems than you can shake a stick it.  The Star is an unlimited re-use soul gem, so you basically just use the grand gems for enchanting.  Common gems and all the others become fairly irrelevant -- since you can always just keep summoning and soul trapping monsters between fights until all your magical items are refilled.

Because of the summoned creature/Azura's star combo, I think the whole soul-trapping thing is kind of stupid.  It makes Azura's star absurdly overpowered and trivializes the significance of soul-trapping for the remainder of the game.

There is a passageway directly above the gate leading to the stone with a button that opens the gate.  Press the button then jump off the ledge and run through the gate.  You have about 5-10 seconds to make it through.

See, there was another damn gate up there I have some how failed to open.

Switch, is the gate south or nouth of the road?  If I'm thinking of the right quest I kind of had the same problem and my advice is look sort of south of one of the camps closest to Skingrad that is right pretty much by the road.  This advice my be crap due to different versions of course.
