Help Needed For an Anniversary Mix Tape
« on: 25 Jun 2006, 01:29 »

My boyfriend (he's actually on this forum as casull, so let's hope he doesn't see this) and I are celebrating our six month (shut up, it's an amazing feat for me...) anniversary a few days after he gets back from a three-week bike trip (which he left for yesterday). I need cheesy, romantic, indie/quirky/classic rock songs. I have a lot already, but variety is the spice of life. And let's just say what I have right now is table salt. Any suggestions would be great.

Some songs I've got, but I'm not so sure I'll use yet:

"You've Escaped" - Aloha
"Like Someone In Love" - Bjork
"Where is My Love?" - Cat Power
"Unintended" - Muse
"How I Love You So" - Don McLean
"Look For Me (I'll Be Around)" - Neko Case

Cat Stevens - I've Found a Love - This one is pretty much required. Like, you can ignore the rest of them. But get this one. SRSLY
Against Me! - I Still Love You Julie
Bob Dylan - Meet Me in the Morning or Emotionally Yours
Leonard Cohen - Suzanne
The Cure - Mint Car

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

"The Reasons" by the Weakerthans.
"...Off By Heart" by City & Colour. (the "u" is part of the name)
"Wishful Thinking" by Wilco.

That's what I suggest.

Not the most romantic song to use, but it does fit anniversaries well.

Emiliana Torrini - Sunny Road

Thank you so much for this. I may not use this song, but it led me to an even better Emiliana Torrini song I'd never heard before. I suggest anyone who likes her to go download "The Boy Who Giggled So Sweet."

In the spirit of being blatantly obvious, how about Anniversary Song by the Cowboy Junkies?
