nothing. and that's my point. i refuse to acknowledge what is being played these days, as "r&b". even if the abbreviations are meant to mean different words nowadays.
--- End quote ---

Right. Well that's a little bit futile really.

sjbrot:
It's kinda like when a grandparent refuses to acknowledge that rap is actually music.

Sythe:
Support for Justin Timberlake on a heavily indie influenced messageboard.
GUYZ WE ARE ELITISTS, NOT POST-POST ELITISTS. WHERE IS YOUR CONTEMPT, PEOPLE?!

Spartan Pho3nix:
I think my comments

--- Quote ---(For reference, AFX claims to have no musical influences and CYHSY still (afaik) haven't admitted in any interview that the Talking Heads were an influence.)
--- End quote ---

were heavily misconstrued.

Just as note, I really respect Aphex Twin and CYHSY. But I know they're full of shit when they say they have no influences.

My point was ONLY that Timberlake (in an eternal quest to be taken seriously) went and named a bunch (seriously, a bunch) of respected and well known groups as "influences," in an attempt to make people think 'Wow! He relates to David Bowie! He must be a good pop star!'

You shouldn't have to rattle off a list of "influences" to make people appreciate your music and take you seriously as an artist. Instead just release a good fricken album and let people judge it for themselves (which is why I cited the other two bands).
