It would also work very well in a Sin-City type of style... imagine it shot-for-shot from the Manga.

It looks like the new OVA is being done shot for shot. It used to be on Youtube before they instituted the shorter film length rules. And, let me say: action scenes fucking rule, character development sucks. Improving the pacing and character arcs was the one thing the series really did right.

I was basing my idea of how Depp would do as Alucard more off Edward Scissorhands and Sleepy Hollow. Bale might work, but it's got to be someone who looks natural in the hair and clothes. I was talking on the subject with the gf lasty night. We agreed Depp would be good, but couldn't really think up anyone else, though I think Bale might actually have been mentioned as a possible Alexander Anderson.

Actually, he'd do a good Anderson.

--- Quote from: KharBevNor ---I could also see Hellsing with Jonny Depp as Alucard. The only problem would be throwing together decent film-length plots. If they used the atmosphere and music from the series together with the action from the manga though...sheeet.

FLCL would never work as live action. Sorry.

Though Jonny Depp is a good actor and one of my favs, I cant see him being Alucard.  Now Crispin Freeman yes.  He did the voice we all know.  Once you do a voice and get into a role, you know the personality.  Alucard also has narrow and sharp facial features ( to play off Vlad Dracula ), as does Crispin Freeman.  I think with the proper make-up team Crispin would play the perfect Alucard and really sell the movie.  Thats my opinion, but with Alucard, presence is everything.  Someone who played the role once, knows his presence.

Joey JoJo:
Johnny Bravo.

If they ever manage to get filming, that is.

Cartilage Head:
FLCL would work brilliantly if it were done correctly. A good way to shoot it would be putting heavy emphasis on colors.

I imagine it as if you were to dump Being John Malkovich, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Kung Fu Hustle into a blender and then set it on fire.

--- Quote from: KharBevNor ---Trigun might work. You could easily chop it down by removing subplots, isolated incidents and whatnot. I'm not quite sure how the Gung-ho guns would come across on the screen though, and you'd have trouble finding someone who could play Vash properly.

Personally, I think Trigun would be a great trilogy. Part one would be the arc of Meryl and Millie trying to find him and culminating in the fight with Monev the Gale. Part two would be Vash fighting various Gung-Ho Guns and ending with the Fifth Moon Incident. The last would have Wolfwood finding Vash in hiding and then the whole deal with Chapel the Evergreen and Vash's final confrontation with Knives. I think it'd be epic. It would need a really good actor though. I suggest Brad Pitt or Matt Damon.

--- Quote from: Switchblade ---Rumblings from teh intarwubs suggest that a Neon Genesis Evangelion live-action film is in pre-production even as we speak.

I have no link, sadly. this is coming off random idle chatter with one of my mates.
