Using DC++

(1/3) > >>

Storm Rider:
OK, so I downloaded DC++ finally, mostly because it came so highly recommended by people I want to steal music from (Khar and Kai). Problem is, I don't exactly know how to use it. I believe Khar posted a tutorial for it a while back, but the search function returned no results.

If you could repost that, it would be extremely helpful. And then maybe everyone who uses it here could post their info in order to foster more efficient piracy?

KharBevNor:
Basically, turn your connection setting to either active or passive (passive is easier, but some hubs don't allow passive searches, so you should probably set to active. You'll need your IP, and the ports should be in the help files). Then you simply join a hub (View > Public Hubs). You can filter the hubs to find hubs that deal in what you want. Then use the normal search function (not Searchspy or ADL search) and get downloading.

The big thing with DC though, is you'll need to set up your share before getting out and joining hubs. DC is not a program for leechers. Almost all decent hubs will require you to have several gigabytes of appropriate material to share. If you already have your music and videos organised into folders, this is relatively simple, though somewhat time-consuming.

Also, I'm on like, 5 hubs but most of those are private ones. The ones you can get to though:

Gothic Castle (gothiccastle.no-ip.org)
MetalPunk (thegud.no-ip.org)

EDIT: Yeah, I just spent the past week or so organizing ALL of my music, because it was a bastard for me, them, everybody to go through.

Storm Rider:
Can you create a private one between just two people? Because quite frankly, my music isn't tremendously well organized either. It's put in folders by artist and that's about it.

KharBevNor:
Kai! What's your nick? I'm on gothic castle all the fucking time.
