July 25th: Broken Social Scene! + The Stills + Sam Roberts

When I saw them I almost didn't get home, the show finished somwhere around 2330-2400.
I bet the canadians were being handed milk and cookies instead of buying cheap beer.

Slick:
I actually saw like the same concert a year ago this weekend! It was a festival in Guelph, Liam from the stills was jamming with all the bands with his sexy black sax, and broken social scene had an amazing set, inclusive of bringing emily and jimmy from metric, half of stars, a few of most serene republic, and k-os on stage, and this was pre-self titled album, so it was amazing and unexpected and crazy and so friggen awesome I've yet to see a better show.
Then, Sam Roberts came and closed the night. Sam's O.K. and all, but he's just O.K. He's more popular in the 'mainstream', so he attracts more people as the headliner.

Coonstar:
Strange thing is, when I was at the concert and asking around "WHO'S HERE FOR SAM ROBERTS?" Pretty much nobody responded. I asked around and everyone was there for BSS. Strangely enough, the Sam Roberts fans only  magically appeared after BSS's set.

Yeah. No Emily. No Feist. No K-Os. Good set, but not insanely amazing. My friend has short clips of the show if anybody's interested.

And guys, is it true that K-Os ain't gonna be performing live for a few years?

I was at the concert aswell, right up at the front, equally dissapointed by the lack of people dancing and flailing to the awesome.  See, I felt the other way, I thought BSS played one hell of a set.  Yes, no Emily Amy or Leslie, but the two we had in stead did Bandwitch rather well.  Then again I'm a pretty big Stars fan, and when Torq hit the stage I almost shit.  I had seen him offstage, but I wasn't quite sure...  At any rate, Sam Roberts all sounded the same to me, and with the added irritation of high pitched female thirteen-year-old Sam fans, it was enough to make a boy mad.  

Sadly My Camera died, alas, I have no pictures of the awesome.  IF you could possibly send me some?  Was your friend the one with the Camcorder that that bigassed buff guy kept on freaking out about?

EDIT:  I'm from Victoria, and the Stills where playing a show their the next day, so guess who talked to them on the ferry ride back...  Heh, this guy!  I was a huge fan of the guy wearing the hat who played the sax.  And what a sax that was.

Saxes are indeed sexy.

Haha no that's not the friend I was talking about, but that guy which the security was freaking out about I was beside of, and was talking to. He was a nice guy, but no I'm not friends with him. He did record all of Superconnected though. I have a friend who was recording 1 minute clips of each song from farther back.

We could've seen each other and didn't know it! :O
