Man, that concert was pretty long! Me and my friends go there at 3:00 pm, but there was quite the thorough lack of directional signs so we blindly followed the sounds of the soundchecking of Broken Social Scene for a good forty minutes through the trees and various streams and giant lake. Doors opened at 4:10 ish, and the show started at around 5:00.
Bands that performed:
Jets Overhead (I think. They're a band from Victoria)
The Stills
Broken Social Scene
Sam Roberts Band
Sam Robert's set ended at probably around 9:45. Pretty good show for 36 bucks.
Jets Overhead were likeable, but didn't stand out much. The Stills I found were way better live than on album, like they weren't half as dreary as I expected them to be, like they were actually lively and fun! But the audience just didn't seem to be that receptive to them. Sure a lot of teenage girls rushed up to the front when the Stills got on but I didn't see anybody chant the lyrics. I was the only one I could see (I was by the front) who could chant some lyrics, but it's kind of sad because I've only really listened to Without Feathers twice and their first album probably the same amount.
Call me insane but, I was slightly disappointed by Broken Social Scene.
None of the trio of awesome ladies were there! No Leslie Feist, no Emily Haines, no Amy Milan. There were other ladies too and they were lovely too of course, but I was kinda hoping for Amy to show up because techically all the women are available at the moment, maybe except for Feist cuz her Calgary show is on Thursday, but still. Torquil Campbell was there though, so that was awesome. He helped initiate the giant audience clapping sequence during Stars and Sons.
BSS didn't play anything from Feel Good Lost, they played an equal share from You Forgot it In People and the self-titled, but they played a lot of the more fillery type stuff from the self-titled too. People went crazy during Ibi Dreams of Pavement, and we kinda thought that it was the last song, so we pretty much were thoroughly danced/spazzed out. So when they played It's All Gonna Break in their last song, you could tell that people were kinda getting tired heh. A chunk of the crowd chanted CANADA VS. AMERICA, but alas- no such request was filled.
Sam Roberts wasn't bad, he put on a pretty good show, but I really just had no love for his material. After BSS's set, I left to buy dinner

But I came back and somehow wiggled my way by the front (maybe 5 persons from the barrier), and I tried to rawk out and enjoy it, but I was tired and his music is just kinda boring to me. But if you enjoy the man's music, you probably would have really liked this show.
We weren't allowed any camcorders at the show but I'm pretty sure at least Superconnected would surface on youtube any time soon.
(edit)
This is random but I feel the need to utter it out. I really hate audience members who seem to stare down anybody who moves. I find it just kinda boring to stand still for the duration of the show, when I move around I seem to just enjoy it a lot more and get more of a feel for the music. As long as one does not intentionally hurt another or dances in too much of a raunchy manner, one should be expectin' some level of dancing in a concert, no? When I see people glaring at me the happy vibes just dissapate and I get all sad and try to work it up again but it doesn't come as quickly anymore! Not like any of them were shoegazer or Sigur Ros type material, and The Stills certainly are not music to be contemplative or teary eyed about. Some people just need to lighten up.
