Here's a really great idea we do in my local scene

Mikendher:
I like that idea a lot. It would be very inspiring :-)

I've been involved in something similar, also called a scrambler, except we didn't do the drawing names out of a hat thing. Basically the scramblers in this particular music scene were held around Halloween time so people could costume it up and dress like a band and then play covers of that band. You can do a makeshift band or play with your band that already exists. Last year my friends and I did a Kinks cover set. We also saw cover sets of: the Labyrinth soundtrack (yeah, costumes and everything- even the bulge), Roy Orbison (hella sunglasses), Daniel Johnston, two guys playing Nirvana songs on keyboards and a drum machine, Tom Petty, Electric Light Orchestra on a distorted autoharp, Stereolab, Magnetic Fields, etc.etc. It was pretty awesome-- scramblers are always a good idea and tons of fun.

that sounds like a whole lot of fun, keith. i third a dvd! where are you from?

Keith Decent:
i'm from Yonkers, NY, just above the city, my "scene" I guess is Westchester county.

I lived in Brooklyn for two years, and just realized I haven't changed my "location" on this baord yet.

Lines:
well...i should have just looked at your location. whoops!

but yeah, ny does have a nice art/music community.
