I can't listen to emo. Too loud. Hurts my skin. And fast and stuff.
Like old school rock and roll and new punk is cool. But not emo. Its about being sad, but its too fast and lame. I prefer my depression ultra-literate, Bob Dylan, or Tom Waits. I was depressed before it was emo, dammit
Also Nick Cave could shoot emo in the face

So basically, i like Bright Eyes, my pain is deeper then yours, and i'm not sure what i'm saying just to piss people off anymore

At least he's not a metalhead. Why is a comic about indie rock infested with metal fans? I'm not kidding about this bit

BECAUSE OUR MUSIC IS BETTER THAN YOURS

Also, I am hoping when you are referring to "emo being too fast and lame", you are referring to this sort of "emo", which is totally misnamed, instead of the actual, good stuff.

ASturge:
I know what yerr saying :p

But it's not that nice. I like QC forums since people are actually pretty nice. This guy needs to be gently guided to the "awesome" side of the force.

Also, I like Bright Eyes. But I also like Converge and Pig Destroyer.
I don't give a shit

Nah
I mean i listen to Bright Eyes and all sorts of sad music that nobody calls emo
so when they show music videos here i try to watch a few emo videos so i can make a fair judgement
but most just sound fast and lame
Panic at the Disco (which i almost wrote as 'Panic at the Sisco', which would be a Star Trek emo band) sound almost cool
but its easier to just hate on emo and not listen to it
i mean that unsarcastically
and i had to listen to the latest Dashboard Confessional album. twice.

For those of you who DON'T read the Sydney street press (all of you, i'd guess) here's what i said. I hated it:

--- Quote ---Chris Carraba, your days as the soundtrack to clichéd teen angst are numbered. The producers of the OC have figured they can pay indie bands half the money for music twice as good and get cred in the process. You can stop whining non-specific, nonsensical lines about failed relationships. You can stop trying to be ‘cool’ by bringing in Bob Dylan producer Daniel Lanois or making your songs sound a bit like Coldplay (who were never cool). You’re not even the best at whining- that honor belongs to Conor Oberst, who can write a decent melody. You’re a grown man. Get a family and go away.
This is an album designed to be listened to over and over, with lyrics to be scribbled on notebooks and sung together at the famously intimate Dashboard live shows. The songs all sound the same- weak, 4th generation rock that propels pathetic choruses about losing your first boyfriend and crying in your room. Its pretty dire stuff, though the amount of pain Carraba can force into a syllable is kinda interesting. He’s got a voice that moves from ‘tortured’ to ‘wistful’ without missing a beat (not that the beats are worth hitting).
I’d like to replace every copy of this CD with The Cure’s Disintegration and show the emo kids what teen angst should sound like.

Kai:
So when you're referring to emo, you are referring to the shitty misnomered "emo" that is really just whiny rock instead of emocore. Gotcha.

Psst. I haven't ever heard anybody label Panic At the Disco as emo. Just shit.

imapiratearg:
i realize a lot of those bands i listed aren't "emo", a lot are hardcore punk, ska punk, and pop punk.  yes.  i never said all i listen to is "emo" music.

i tried listening to Straylight Run once and i didn't really like it.  but like, i also listen to Chiodos, Circa Survive, and The Receiving End of Sirens, so i'd probably like it now.
