Mnementh:
does anyone out there better at google than I am know the horizontal sync frequency and vertical refresh rate of a Compaq Presario V5207NR Notebook?

(or why Ubuntu won't recognize it's built in wireless?)

öde:
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/ ?

Mnementh:
They didn't help much.  I was able to get the resolution thing straightened out this morning though.

sudo apt-get install 915resolution did the trick.

Now the wireless is the issue.

calenlass:
Is this why your phone isn't working?

Tokuma:
Your wireless card is probably not offically supported by Ubuntu. In which case you will have to use a wrapper (in this case ndiswrapper) to load the windows drivers in ubuntu. Here is a good how to:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=31926&highlight=wireless

You will need the original windows drivers for the wireless card before you start. Also if you search the Ubuntu forums for "ndiswrapper wireless" you should find a bunch of topics that may help you.
