Blasphemy!

Love will tear us apart is one of the most icon songs of last century. Permanent: Joy Division is possibly the greatest album I own. And I don't even like this style of music.

But they were 10 tonnes of dull live. The crowd could have sung the songs more enthusiastically (and did, though replacing the words with LALALA BLAHBLAHBLAH)

When I saw CYHSY at the Horseshoe in Toronto, Alec Ounsworth was red-faced, tendons sticking out of his neck, sweating, singing into the mic.  The last thing you could say about the performance was that it was boring.  Similarly, their performance in NYC for New Year's Eve 2005 was supposed to have been epic.  So either they're really inconsistent, or they're performances have taken a nose-dive this year -- or I have lower standards than y'all.
