It happened to The Decemberists last year too, also while they were on tour. They had a massive benefit to raise money to replace their instruments. Happily in the end someone found a whole bunch of their more unusual (and unmarketable) instruments literally ditched on the roadside.

Mastodon got some of their shit stolen when they visited Denmark a few years ago. Most notably Brent's fucking sexy Silverburst Flying V. It seems he's got it back now though.

I think McLusky got EVERYTHING stolen, recording equipment, amps, everything on one tour. Five grand of stuff. Was it around 2003? I can't remember.
