metal suggestions?

Mastodon a metalcore band? Maybe you should actually listen to the music instead of just going along with whatever dumb label some journalist wants to tag on to a band. The only thing that associated Mastodon to metalcore is that they are an American metal band who have come put in the last 5 years.
P.S; Don't pick on me for not sticking straight to the "doom" spirit of the original post, about half of the recommendations here have nothing to do with doom, and I don't see you getting a bug up your ass at them.

Mastodoncould technically could be classifed as metalcore, but why would you bother? Hell, even the Encyclopaedia Metallum accept them as a metal act. They're a talented one at that, if you dig sludge.

Ahhh...i love it when i satrt an argument, firstly if you read the entry on the front page of encyclopedia metallium you may have noticed that they accepted them as a metal core act

next i don't listen to the "dumb journalist" i listen to the music myself and then decide what i want to classify it, i never said they were a bad band at any point i said they wern't metal in the traditional sense of the word and thus shouldn't be posted in a thread asking for metal recomendations, i own blood mountain and like the album i just calssified it as metal core
3rdly i am a fan of sludge and they don't really come under that catogory in my opinion (i usually listen to drone and stoner sludge though so that may have an effect)
anymore questions?

I ain't very discriminatory, I just know I liked Blood Mountain, it was a solid 7/10 album. More recommendations? Cynic is good for everyone. It comes off a little weird at first cuz of the synth vocals, but it grows on you and grows on you.
Other stuff? Spawn of Possession, uneXpect.
