The Wii Thread

(1/37) > >>

Storm Rider:
So, in light of the announcement over the weekend that Nintendo is holding Wii-related events in the US, Europe, and Japan tomorrow (Thursday, September 14th), I thought a Wii-related thread would be a good idea.

My gaming-related website of choice, Gamespot.com, has an article up about the predictions of their editors for this event here.

So, predictions for price and release date?
Games you want to see?
Things you want to do with the controller?
Anything else?

Discuss!

Alegis:
Following announcements on an IRC channel of the jap conference. Well not exactly following, watching tv episodes and i'll check the tab later for good stuff.

No expectations, one would only get dissapointed!

Coolest thing would be lightsaber

Gryff:
they named it after urine lol

Cartilage Head:
I'm just hoping it may gain some actual third-party support, since it has a whole lot of potential. It would be a shame to see it wasted.

Storm Rider:
I agree, HTF, but I think we've seen with the DS that third party developers can bring great ideas to an unorthodox platform. A big test of this will be the Madden game for the Wii. If you guys haven't already heard, they basically developed an entirely new control system from scratch based around the remote. If it ends up working (and sells well), then EA will probably publishing games that use the Wii well, which considering its size will probably convinced other companies to do the same.

So, as sick as I am of sports games, I am buying the Wii Madden game just to see if the new controls rekindle my interest in the genre.
