or, How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love the One-Touch Backup.

So, Friday afternoon, I had a moment of mild panic at work when the hard drive on my main computer crashed.  I do production for a radio station, and pretty much everything I do prior to the final mixdown of the commercials is saved on this computer, so aside from not having the machine in working order to be able to actually DO my job, I also had thought that I had lost everything I'd saved in the past year and a half, since we didn't have any kind of backup in place...good news is that I was able to recover most of my data, but I was pretty stressed out for most fo the day.  Everyone else who works with these computer boxes of terror, share your own horror stories here!

And for the record, I learned my lesson, and I am now going to be redundantly backing up my data often.

kokeyjoe:
That was no fun.  And gee, look, now one of our other computers has been broken for two weeks (although it has been fixed and *re*-broken twice in that two week period.)  Yarr.

the_tard:
I downloaded "Pocket Tanks Deluxe with 11 expansion Packs" off of Limewire (lol don't judge me). It fried Norton like nothing, then proceeded to rampantly download EVERYTHING. It kept opening Limewire and Shareaza infinite times and downloading everything you could think of. programs, porn, games, movie clips.... everything. I unplugged my internet after about 20 seconds but the damage was done, as I found about 1,000 0 kb files in evry folder, not to mention a good 2000 more entries in my downloads folder. It was a nasty one. Unrepairable, I had to huck the computer. :x

Will:
Which is precisely why I don't use Limewire...for anything.  Ever.

Grawsith:
I tried Boot Camp on my MacBook, but wound up with a crippled XP, and 15 gigs of HDD space down the turlet. Luckily, some third-party tweaking solved the problem.

I have now abandoned Windows, and since I haven't sold my PC yet, every time i see that box, i die a little on the inside.
