Simple question.

What music do you love? Please give legitimate reasons, not just "they rule" or "the bass player respects people of the opposite sex" etc.

I'll start:

-Melodic punk rock.  It's very simple and unadorned, yet effective, and hell of fun to sing/yell along to.

valley_parade:
I'll agree with the melodic bit (I love the Lawrence Arms, especially the songs that Chris sings), also a little bit of old school hardcore.

Sigur Ros, Motorhead, AC/DC, love them as well.

Also, anything I can just stick on in the background and listen to without skipping a track. I have iTunes on shuffle right now and it's been a bunch of Ted Leo, Islands, Beatles, Stars, and I'm From Barcelona. Wonderful stuff.

Freezepop. Jets to Brazil. Mclusky. there are more, of course. but that's all i'm saying right now.
