Some of their songs are surprisingly dark. Birdhouse in Your Soul... Istanbul Not Constaninople... weird memories. Hearing Another First Kiss for the first time after getting one kiss from a girl i liked at CTY (Smart Kids Camp)... memories man

How the heck-butt is Birdhouse in Your Soul dark? It's about a friendly sentient nightlight...I think.

AlexAttack:
i think they are an awesome band. flood is my favourite. i also own the vinyl of the don't lets start single.
why would anyone hate them? some of the catchiest songs and cleverest lyrics ever (almost rivals dr frank).

Yeah i squished together two thoughts. Songs like 'Dead' are dark. Istanbul Not Constanople is actually a cover... my grandfather has the original on vinyl. Wish i'd asked for it... its by a group with a name like 'the freshmen'

Spinless:
So...do you guys like The Decemberists?
They're like They Might Be Giants, but with more ballads.
I loved some songs by this band when I was 12. I recall downloading their entire discography, then deleting what I didn't like. I think I had about 7 songs in the end.

My Verdict: Over their long career, they have written some hella catchy and nice, sometimes touching pop songs. Don't try to go any further than those because they WILL make you throw up.
Do not try to listen to an album all the way through, you WILL be violently ill long before it finishes.

Ravenbomb:
I love They Might Be Giants. Including their recent stuff. In fact, two of my favorite songs of theirs (Experimental Film and Memo To Human Resources) are on their latest album
