--- Quote ---seriously, what the fuck is an anarcho punk?
--- End quote ---
when i say anarcho punk, i mean people who don't believe in the system and therefore do not allow their lives to be used to further it. drifters, squatters, people who don't eat processed and artificial foods and don't buy from harmful corporations, don't watch t.v., who eat from dumpsters and hitch rides. people who believe in and practice the politics they preach. the band crass as opposed to the sex pistols.
--- End quote ---
OK, I'm pretty sure that Khar will agree with me here - that is NOT what makes you an anarchist. Anarchism is about your politics, not your lifestyle. Of course there are a lot of anarchists within the whole crusty/freegan/squatter movement, but you can be an anarchist and still buy stuff - the most important part of anarchism (IMO) is building communities inside the system. There's no point preaching to the converted. The reason I think Against Me! aren't anarchist is because of "Baby I'm An Anarchist" - the culmination of 150 years of struggle is not a broken window in a coffee shop.
I don't wanna derail this thread and turn it into POLITICS EET FUCK though, so I will refrain from commenting further upon this.

Do not eat, drink or sleep until you have a copy of Spiderland.

^ Full agree. I believe in evolution not revolution. To be frank, though I admit it may be a much freer way of living in some ways, the full 'opt out' never really made sense to me politically or in any other way. By placing yourself completely outside the system, you lose any ability you have to change it, but you don't really affect the systems ability to censure you via the agency of the police. And it isn't really freedom, because you're still allowing the system to define your existence: just by omission. It does seem awfully attractive sometimes though.
Tommy: if you don't understand the theory of property within anarchy (which it seems you do not) then do not comment on that.
Yeah, only teenagers
supersheep:
I am no longer a teenager, and I am an anarchist. So there Tommy. Now you must revise your statement HAHA! Thpppt bleah. Also, possessions /= property. (Anarchist definition of property is means of production, not personal belongings.)
Also, kudos to Khar for putting the problem with "opting out" much better than I did.

You have met me via the intertubes, so ha! Also, if I lived with my parents it would mean a sixty mile commute to college everyday in hella traffic, so no.
Just as a matter of interest, what would you think would be give someone a credible claim to be an anarchist?
