All Inclusive "Recommend Me For Music" Thread
Storm Rider:
I say this more or less every time a 'pump up/fight music' thread comes up:
Testament - Into the Pit
Also, Megadeth - Take No Prisoners.
Scytale:
Just got back from MFTB, saw a couple of doom bands.
Pod People played some tracks off there forth ocmming album, sounds like it's going to be pretty good.

Making generalizations about greatest hits collections doesn't makes sense. There are a lot of acts (usually pop or electronic ones) that aren't really about albums; they're about singles. For example, I'm a big fan of the stuff Holland-Dozier-Holland did for Motown but I'm not gonna go track down every Supremes, Four Tops, Martha and the Vandellas and Marvin Gaye record. I'm just gonna get one of the 8 hundred Motown comps. Or take Hank Williams. All his recording was done before the idea of "the album" had really been popularized. If you're interested in his stuff you get a 40 Greatest Hits and unless you want to track down everything he's ever done you can probably stop there. I don't know if it'd be considered a greatest hits record but the Field Mice record that gets recomended (and they only one you'll ever be able to find since the initial recording weren't widely distributed and and a lot of their best stuff was on 7''s) is a compilation.
And then there are always artists who were musically important but whom you might not love enough to go buy every album they made. If that band didn't have a seminal album it makes sense to just buy a comp. Theres a huge list of artists for whom a complilation is a good recomendation.
But I totally don't think Dylan is one of them. Besides, isn't the guy just going to download what you recomend? If no one is spending money theres no reason not to recomend three albums.

Which is less a genre: Indie vs. Classic Rock
Scytale:
Yeah If you want to get pumped up thrash metal is what you are after.
