Art Brut

muffy:
Their cover of We Are Scientists' The Great Escape is pretty funny.
And Emily Kane is kind of sweet.

But then, after more than 3 minutes of Eddie Argos singing, I want to dig up the rotting corpse of shit Britpop, chop it into teeny tiny pieces and then incinerate the whole lot so that it stops coming back like some half-arsed indie zombie and eating the brains of every new NME approved band.

Johnny C:
I quite like Art Brut, actually. I think "Good Weekend" and "Modern Art" were the tracks that really sold me on 'em.

pat101:
everyone should here them live it's a very very fun time

bff:
am I the only one who thought this thread was about Brute's art?

TynansAnger:
I personally love Art Brut, consider them the definitive indie band of our time, and think that Eddie Argos is rock and roll's greatest smartass since Jonathan Richman. If this is the "ironic generation," as we are so often told we are, then Art Brut is exposing just how deep that irony runs. No one can tell if they're serious or not, and no one if their good at what they do whether or not they are serious. They've blurred the line between irony and sincerity so much that trying to distinguish the two is pointless.
