Is the idea of cutting an album just to get rid of the tracks you don't like? That seems pretty fuckin pissweak to me.

Why does everyone have a problem with Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds?

You guys are missing out.

On wasting money and time on something illegal that may cause me serious problems? How stupid of me.

Despite George being my favourite Beatle, Within You Without You blows. All of the sitar songs blow to varying degrees.

Thank you, George is my favorite Beatle too, but Christ I can't stand that goddamned song.

Oh and yes, the idea of trimming albums..especially a Beatles album is pretty weak IMO, but like I said before if I was going to cut anything it would probably be just Within You Without You.  I have no beef with Lucy in the Sky or Good Morning, Good Morning.

Oh well fine, maybe it wasn't him. But your statement is flawed.

Drugs may very well be "wasting" money and time in your eyes, but then, it might be a valuable and enlightening experience to someone else. I can't properly explain tol you how it feels to sit around in a circle with 4 other musicians, all tripping on acid, spontaneously creating music. It's beyond hippie jam rock. It's beyond avante-garde jazz. It's probably my favorite thing that I've encountered in existence thus far.

As far as the "cause you serious problems" part - that's ridiculous. How can a chemical that you choose to take or choose not to take cause you serious problems? The person is always the problem, not the drug, unless they took it against their will, in which case, it's still not the drug's fault.

When I say "you guys are missing out," I'm not seriously saying everyone should take them, I'm just enthusiastically proclaiming my adoration for them.

How about the hallucinations and mental issues that some LSD users continue to have after the event, some having taken one solitary trip?

Is the person always the problem with smack? Crack? Coke?

Besides which, I'm curious what jeph thinks about drug advocation on this forum, because there's been more than I'm comfortable with flying about lately, and I've just avoided it until now; if he's happy with it, I'll continue to do so.

Yeah, the person is always the problem. I have seen friends pull themselves out from the very deep depths of methamphetamine addiction to lead, all things considered, prosperous lives.

Oh God, it may be worse than I had first thought, Nimrod here may actually infact be a member of The Mars Volta! I wonder if the Acid makes their Fro's seem like a better idea than it actually is. (Hmmm...)

That is such bollocks. It's nothing to do with ridiculously addictive drugs, oh no, it's always the person...

That's more or less my view, although admittedly I didn't say that. I feel any crediblity I had draining away...

I was just protesting that idea that the individual is always the one with the problem. Admittedly in 99% of cases it will be that person's fault for using in the first place and getting addicted, but once they are addicted it's a totally different story.

There are, as Hat implied, a million different reasons.

Anyway, this being the music forum, shall we move on?

Who wants to trim down the tracklist of Yellow Submarine? Here's mine:

I can't say I ever heard Yellow Submarine. I'll have a look for the tracklisting and see what I can do.

Apparently All You Need is Love is on it. This album sounds fucking ridiculous.

Cut out "For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!" and you've pretty much got it okay. That song, in my opinion, is the Holocaust of the musical world.

Mr. Kite is one of the best! Come on. You guys don't like wild, wacky stuff?

Anyway, I am currently at the cherubic age of 22, but I have friends who are into their 60's. So you could say that they are old enough to have been prosperous (or not).

And Dynomite, all things are addictive. It's a matter of degree. Ice cream is addictive. What we need in this world is education, not restriction. I'm not an advocate of crack, meth, or opiates. I am an advocate of knowledge, responsibility, and freedom.

Personally, I'd just love to have it with a proper remastering job. They didn't do a damn thing when they put it on CD in 1989 and they haven't since. The fucking Anthologies are better sound-wise than this album! What the hell?

If I were going to trim down a Beatles album, it'd be the White album.

Basically, they couldn't agree on what to take out, so they just took out all the George songs and left everything else in, resulting in an uneven mess of occasional spells of greatness.
