Great Games You Just Don't Care About??
nihilist:
Fun times?
Johnny C:
I thoroughly approve of the course of action you took.
kokeyjoe:
I am glad I could play some small part in this legendary notion, no matter how small.
BillAdama:
Honestly, Final Fantasy games.
They are very well made, well produced games, but I'm not really into the whole trend of games turning more into interactive movies than games.
I'm also not really into the whole emo main character thing we see with Cloud, Squall, and Tidus.
I don't like a lot of the great games that come out today. I started playing in the NES era where they didn't try to have a plot, and they didn't have the technology to have impressive graphics. Games were designed around just the game engine being really fun to play. You could just pick up a game and play it and have fun, rather than having to sit through a half hour of cutscenes between actually playing it.
For instance, I'm finding Zelda: Twilight Princess frustrating. The main engine of the game is really fun, and the dungeons are really well made. But, you hardly ever get to play the dungeons. You have to do a lot of stupid minigames like jousting, sumo wrestling, goat herding, and bobber fishing and run a lot of little errands.
I'd enjoy the game a lot more if they just threw you in a world and told you generally where to go, as is the case with Zelda: Link To The Past, rather than trying to have a story and minigames.
I also really enjoy the challenge of games, but with new games there's no learning curve that forces you to get better at the game. You can generally pick up a game cold and coast through it, maybe dying a few times here and there.
