I wanna be the very best
Like noone ever was
To catch them is my real test
To train them is my cause
I will travel across the land
Searching far and wide
Each Pokemon to understand
The power that's inside

Pokemon!
It's you and me
I know it's my destiny
Pokemon!
Ooh, you're my best friend
In a world we must defend
Pokemon!
Our hearts so true
Our courage will pull us through
You teach me and I'll teach you
Pokemon
Gotta catch 'em all!

It's all downhill from here until someone suggests the Katamari Damacy theme song, at which point thread over.

Holy shit. He was right.  The Katamari Damacy thing might be the most catchy song ever...anything else flails in comparison.

I realized driving home the other day that for the last little while my other theme has been the Long Winters' "Prom Night At Hater High":

sitting there where you buried your pets
get up! we'll dig graves for your invisible friends
now i can't stand to hear another thing explained
your trip to spain, your childhood pain
so won't you quit talking down to your girlfriend?
oh, i see, you're not fighting, you're flirting
well, i hope it's exciting

these kids are my age, it's strange to say
look up! every star is singing in space
but i am motionless on this tiny strip
my conscience is clean, i can see everything
well, the girls meet to dish the dirt, but it's them!
i heard their conversation, it made me laugh
they talk about the magic man, like they ever had him

jet city won't let you go without a fight
see the pod people on prom night at hater high
so don't stay up late to cry
you've got a big trip to plan
say goodbye to your old friends
say goodbye, goodbye jet city

she showed up for our date five years late
she said, "you're so sexy and so great
aren't you gonna show me where you sing your downtown song?"
i said, 'downtown's gone! downtown's gone!'
now my only ties to that old scene
are the same mean people in pre-owned jeans
i used to love them all, but they burned me up
i used to love them all, but they burned me up

goodbye
gooodbye
goooodbye

jet city won't let you go without a fight
see the pod people on prom night at hater high
so don't stay up late to cry
you've got a big trip to plan
say goodbye to your old friends
say goodbye, goodbye, goodbye jet city!

"Memo to Human Resources" by They Might Be Giants

I'll be in the back, and I don't need the help
I'm good here in the back
I'm good all by myself
I'm busy taking stock of all the things that I've forgot (5 4 3 2)
And making mental notes of just exactly where I lost the plot (2 2 2 2)

I stuck around too long feeling sorry for myself
A disinvited guest rifles through the bathroom shelf
I'm searching for some disbelief that I can still suspend (5 4 3 2)
But never mind the furthermore-the plea is self-defense again (2 2 2 2)

Then the people came to talk me down
And I got some advice
Then the people came to talk me down
But I don't need advice-I'm down

Later in my car I considered what you said
I'm good here in my car
I'm good with what you said
And I'd be shouting out to you but I was mighty hoarse
Talk you through the finer points and issues much too small to force

Then the people came to talk me down
And I got some advice
Then the people came to talk me down
But I don't need advice-I'm down

My friend Doug and I have "our" theme song, which is We Laugh at Danger and Break All the Rules by Against Me!

In highschool, for our "senior slide show" everyone could pick 30 seconds of a song to put during their part of the show, and mine was a bit from I Am a Scientist by Guided by Voices.
Quote
I am a scientist - I seek to understand me
I am an incurable and nothing else behaves like me

Everything is right
Everything works out right
Everything fades from sight
Because thats alright with me

I guess that's pretty much it. There's never been a song where I went "Whoa, I really relate to this."

i'm only being half-ironic here. "If you hold on to a chorus you can make it through the night" sums up my last few months, really. Pretend I said something by Springsteen or The Hold Steady or My Chemical Romance or whatever....
Is this 'theme song' or 'song that describes your life'? 'cause there are a few Belle & Sebestian songs that nail me down to a T, and a few Dylan songs that always stick by

anyway, Meat Loaf:

You cant run away forever
But theres nothing wrong with getting a good head start
You want to shut out the night
You want to shut down the sun
You want to shut away the pieces of a broken heart
Thing of how wed lay down together
Wed be listening to the radio so loud and so strong
Every golden nugget coming like a gift of the gods
Someone must have blessed us when he gave us those songs

I treasure your love
I never want to lose it
Youve been through the fires of hell
And I know youve got the ashes to prove it
I treasure your love
I want to show you how to use it
Youve been through a lot of pain in the dirt
And I know youve got the scars to prove it

Remember everything that I told you
Well Im telling you again that its true
When youre alone and afraid
And youre completely amazed
To find theres nothing anybody can do
Keep on believing
And youll discover baby

Theres always something magic
Theres always something new
And when you really, really need it the most
Thats when rock and roll dreams come through
The beat is yours forever
The beat is always true
And when you really, really need it the most
Thats when rock and roll dreams come through...for you...

Once upon a time was a backbeat
Once upon a time all the chords came to life
And the angels had guitars even before they had wings
If you hang on to a chorus you get through the night

I treasure your love
I never want to lose it
Youve been through the fires of hell
And I know youve got the ashes to prove it
I treasure your love
I want to show you how to use it
Youve been through a lot of pain in the dirt
And I know youve got the scars to prove it

Remember everything that I told you
Well Im telling you again that its true
Youre never alone cause you can put on the phones
And let the drummer tell your heart ehat to do
Keep on believing
And youll discover baby

Theres always something magic
Theres always something new
And when you really, really need it the most
Thats when rock and roll dreams come through
The beat is yours forever
The beat is always true
And when you really, really need it the most
Thats when rock and roll dreams come through...for you...

I've been saying it for at least ten years, and will say it for plenty of tens more...(Someone might have already said this, but I'm feeling lazy.)

I want this to be possible... I want "The Imperial March" from Star Wars to play upon my entering a room, at a volume of my choosing.  And not having the music coming from me or speakers anywhere... I just want the music to be.

Small Man, Big Mouth - Minor Threat

And..

What Do You Want Me to Say? - The Dismemberment Plan

'Cause I know that I do belong here..

And..last but not least.

Jackolantern's Weather - 311

Stompin in Jackolantern's Weather.
Backpack strapped cause the world is cold
Headphone's pumpin' don't ya know.

The Kid is smart, the Kid is clever

Wilco - Misunderstood

When you're back in your old neighborhood
The cigarettes taste so good
But you're so misunderstood
You're so misunderstood

There's something there that you can't find
You look honest when you're telling a lie
You hurt her but you don't know why
You love her but you don't know why

Short on long term goals
There's a party there that we ought to go to
If you still love rock and roll
You still love rock and roll?

It's only a quarter to three
Reflecting off of your CD
You're looking at a picture of me
You're staring at a picture of me

Take the guitar player for a ride
'Cause he ain't never been satisfied
He thinks he owes some kind of debt
It'll be years before he gets over it

There's a fortune inside your head
When all you touch turns to lead
You think you might just crawl back in bed
With the fortune inside your head

I know you're just a mama's boy
You're positively unemployed
So misunderstood
So misunderstood

I know you've got a god-shaped hole
You're bleeding out your heart full of soul
You're so misunderstood
You're so misunderstood
You're so misunderstood
You're so misunderstood

I'd like to thank you all for nothing
I'd like to thank you all for nothing at all
I'd like to thank you all for nothing
Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing at all
Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing at all

Of course, no one looks at a picture of me and I don't smoke, but the overall feeling of the song strikes a chord with me, especially the end, which makes for some tasty catharsis.

Another choice would be...

Weezer - Pink Triangle

When I'm stable long enough
I start to look around for love
See a sweet and floral print
My mind begins the arrangements
But when I start to feel that pull
Turns out I just pulled myself
She would never go with me
Were I the last girl on earth

I'm dumb she's a lesbian
I thought I had found the one
We were good as married in my mind
But married in my mind's no good
A pink triangle on her sleeve
Let me know the truth
Let me know the truth

Might have smoked a few in my time
But never thought it was a crime
Knew the day would surely come
When I'd chill and settle down
When I think I've found a good old fashioned girl
Then she put me in my place
If everyones a little queer
Cant she be a little straight

Chorus, chorus, chorus
Let me know the truth

Again, I'm not in love with a lesbian, but I tend to be attracted to women who either like someone else or are already taken. I kind of respond to the entirety of Pinkerton, but this song in particular.

That only gets to be your theme song if you consistantly crush on lesbians and smoke pot. It was like 100% true for me

For my overall life, I would probably go with "Smash" by the Offspring.

For where I am at right now, "Mellowed" by Local H pretty much has me nailed to a "t"

Tunnel vision is slowly setting in.
Blocking out what should be letting in,
Letting in.
11 years of seeing through alcoholic eyes.
Nothing here at all but lows disguised as highs.
Days I don't remember now,
fitting in and blacking out,
falling up and spiraling down and down and then
It's down again, and up again.
I've mellowed but it's taken so much time.

Never needed to think that I was thin.
(Anyway) would I wish it on you now.
I'm so fucked up.
Lay down pacified and completely compromised.
Nothing left inside but memories of lies.
Days I don't remember now,
of fitting in and falling out
falling up and spiraling down and down and then
It's down again, but up again.
I'm sorry but it doesn't matter now.

11 years of seeing through alcoholic eyes
Nothing here at all but lows disguised as highs
Days I don't remember now
fitting in and falling out
falling up and spiraling down and down and then

I've mellowed but it's taken so much time
so much time, so much time, so much time...

I might go with "I Fucked Your Dad" by Bear vs. Shark

These problems I'm having all
Of structure and dreaming of
Of humans and animals and beautiful people
The grass that we nurtured all
When thoughts equal dreams and still
These conflicts directed to the conquering people
To be in a garden with a skyline perverted by
You were my first day, my first day of silence
We're marching a rat race all through the day
Our hands on the home, head for home
The science of driveways to captives.

It's not my theme song, but it's been in my head all day.

Tool - Right In Two

Angels on the sideline,
Puzzled and amused.
Why did Father give these humans free will?
Now they're all confused.

Don't these talking monkeys know that
Eden has enough to go around?
Plenty in this holy garden, silly old monkeys,
Wonders when you're bound to divide it

Right in two

Angels on the sideline,
Baffled and confused.
Father blessed them all with reason.
And this is what they choose.
(and this is what they choose)
Monkey killing monkey killing monkey
Over pieces of the ground.

Silly monkeys given thumbs,
They forge a blade,
And brothers wonder
bound to divide it,

Right in two.
Right in two.

Monkey killing monkey killing monkey
Over pieces of the ground.
Silly monkeys give them thumbs,
They make a club
And beat their brother... down.
How they survive so misguided is a mystery.
Repugnant is the creature
who would squander
the ability to lift an eye
to heaven conscious of his fleeting time
here...

Cutting it all right in two
Cutting it all right in two
Cutting it all right in two
Cutting it all right in two

Fight over the clouds, over wind, over sky
Fight over life, over blood, over prayer, overhead and light
Fight over love, over sun, over another
Fight...

Angels on the sideline again
been so long with patience and reason
Angels on the sideline again
Wondering when this tug of war will end

Cutting it all right in two
Cutting it all right in two
Cutting it all right in two
Right in two
Right in two...

Daniel Johnston- Good Morning You

Good Morning You
You?ve got the world, what?s in your way
Good Morning You
Had to stop to think of something to say

You sat in the chair and your were there
You looked at the wall and started to stare

Good Morning You
What do you plan to do?
Good Morning You
Though you can hardly move

You sat in a chair and you were scared
There?s so much you could do if you dared

Good Morning You
You?ve got the world, what?s in your way?

Pearl Jam - Present Tense

Reel Big Fish - Dateless losers.
We are all on our own with no one by our side
You are so lucky, beautiful and bright
All the cool kids go steady they're making out at 12-
we sit in our rooms alone
by ourselves it's Friday- no phone call, nobody asked us out

We are the dateless losers- lonely until we die!
So unappreciated, why, why, why, why?

We?re not so bad you know, but you won?t give us a chance
Take us to the movies, to dinner, or to dance
Not perfect, not too hip- but we need lovin? too

We are the dateless losers- lonely until we die!
So unappreciated why, why, why, why?

Reading a little i just was remembered of Misunderstood by Dream Theater. I often feel just like the song sais, misunderstood and lonely (even though the world sorround me)

Waiting
In the calm of desolation
Wanting to break
From this circle of confusion

Sleeping
In the depths of isolation
Trying to wake
From this daydream of illusion

How can I feel abandoned even when the world surrounds me
How can I bite the hand that feeds the strangers all around me
How can I know so many
Never really knowing anyone

If I seem superhuman
I have been
Misunderstood

It challenges the essence of my soul
And leaves me in a state of disconnection
As I navigate the maze of self control

Playing a lion being led to a cage
I turn from a thief to a beggar
From a god to God save me

How can I feel abandoned even when the world surrounds me
How can I bite the hand that feeds the strangers all around me
How can I know so many
Never really knowing anyone

If I seem superhuman
I have been
Misunderstood

Playing a lion being led to a cage
I turn from surreal to seclusion
From love to disdain
From belief to delusion
From a thief to a beggar
From a god to God save me

How can I feel abandoned even when the world surrounds me
How can I bite the hand that feeds the strangers all around me
How can I know so many
Never really knowing anyone

If I seem superhuman
I have been
Misunderstood

Khar: YES. I have sort of been humming the intro chords to that song the whole time I've been reading this.

Both of the songs I was originally thinking of were already mentioned on the first page (both of the Weakerthans ones). But even though I rarely listen to dance/electronic lyrically (Far From) Home - Tiga is the song that describes me more often than not, so there it goes.

Hard not to be so hard on myself
I'm trying to learn to keep my mind in check
I listen to my friends when they say
It's destiny, it's meant to be this way.

I've found that they're right,
And now I see
That all this time
And I've had the key.

So now I'm on a roll and I've got nothing but luck
With a spring in my step as I strut down the block
I see the boys stare and I hear them talk.

As far as I go
As far as I know
I've always got a place called home.
I cross all the seas
It's fine by me
'Cause I'll never be
Far from home.

My heart takes a hit
And then my heart hits back
And each day I find comfort in the fact
I listen to my friends when they say
Man just relax, 'cause it's all a game.
I've found they're right
And now I see
I'm going to have my fun and what will be will be.

Now I'm walking up the street,
And whistling this.
Everything's in place
'Cause I can't miss.
I smile at my girls
And blow them a kiss.

As far as I go
As far as I know
I've always got a place called home.
I cross all the seas
It's fine by me
'Cause I'll never be
Far from home.

My own personal theme song? There are too many to count. One that springs to mind is The Format - Dog Problems.
Don't you dare speak someone you don't know.
They'll feel it in the back of their throat.
We know I can't construct a poem,
Cause words like girls get bored and run
C'est la vie, I say "I've got so many better things"
I've got nothing, you should see me,
I smoke myself to sleep.

And blame postmodern things I can't relate,
Like summer camp and coastal states.
Like alcohol and coffee beans.
Dance floors and magazines.
I think its safe to say I've only got myself to blame
But boys in swooping haircuts are bringing me down,
Taking pictures of themselves.

And so I walk the web in search of love,
But always seem to end up stuck.
I'm finding flaws in everyone.
I've reached the point where all I want,
Is to sleep around in hopes that I will catch back up.
We are parallel lines we?re running in circles,
We're never meant to cross.

I'm at a loss, you were my tangerine,
My pussycat, my trampoline.
Now alls I get are wincing cheeks,
And dog problems, I signed a lease.
Thinking my heart belonged at 93rd and park.
Instead I broke a girl?s heart,
And flew back to Phoenix to finish the year as it started.

Can you hear me?
Are you listening?
This is the sound of my heart breaking.
And I hope it's entertaining,
Cause for me it?s a bitch.
Was it worth it?
When you slept with him?
Did you get it all out of your system?

I am a man
Holding it all
I couldn?t breath
Comming across
I didn?t know
I couldn?t give up

B is for believing you'd always be here for me.
E is for everything, even when we see it though.
C, c is for seeing through you, you are a fake, which brings me to
A because, because, you always run away.

I never finish phrases, I misspell.
Open arms are prison cells.
When I said, "I hate what I've become"
I lied, I hated who I was.
So when you start to wonder 'bout the pain in my throat,
Then don't you ever, no never, ever, speak for someone you don't know.

Another would probably be Butch Walker - Best Thing You Never Had.

Hello how you doing?
What's it like to ruin all my self esteem
Let me blow off some steam
For 5 years I've waited,
So why am I jaded to get back at you
What makes it cool

When you act like nothing ever happened
I feel like I should feel bad
But I can't like someone who thought
They're the only one that mattered
I hope that you're flattered
Cause you broke this down
The best thing that you never had

And it seems like a loss somehow
My heart got lost on the way to my head
And my brain cells are dead
And the craziness shows
Now I start to go when the green turns to red
And I should be dead

When you act like nothing ever happened
I feel like I should feel bad
But I can't like someone who thought
They're the only one that mattered
While my heart got shattered like romantic roadkill
My heart is all splattered your ego got fatter
And I hope that you're flattered
Cause you broke this down
The best thing that you never had

Like the toilet seat never got lifted
And I pissed on your confidence
When you weren't around, how can that be?
Don't turn this around
You were the one
Who drove my ass right to the ground

When you act like nothing ever happened
I feel like I should feel bad, and I can't like

Someone who thought
They're the only one that mattered
While my heart got shattered like romantic roadkill
My heart is all splattered your ego got fatter
And I hope that you're flattered
Cause you broke this down
You broke this down
The best thing, the best thing,
The best thing that you never had

You never had...

I don't particularly identify with any song, it's just that these two songs strike out with me more than others.

Okay, I didn't really post my theme song before. I just posted a song I really really like. That doesn't work. Here, this one's better.

Added bonus: these here are, empyrically speaking, the best lyrics ever written.

Bob Dylan - It's Alright Ma, I'm Only Bleeding

Darkness at the break of noon
Shadows even the silver spoon
The handmade blade, the child's balloon
Eclipses both the sun and moon
To understand you know too soon
There is no sense in trying.

Pointed threats, they bluff with scorn
Suicide remarks are torn
From the fool's gold mouthpiece
The hollow horn plays wasted words
Proves to warn
That he not busy being born
Is busy dying.

Temptation's page flies out the door
You follow, find yourself at war
Watch waterfalls of pity roar
You feel to moan but unlike before
You discover
That you'd just be
One more person crying.

So don't fear if you hear
A foreign sound to your ear
It's alright, Ma, I'm only sighing.

As some warn victory, some downfall
Private reasons great or small
Can be seen in the eyes of those that call
To make all that should be killed to crawl
While others say don't hate nothing at all
Except hatred.

Disillusioned words like bullets bark
As human gods aim for their mark
Made everything from toy guns that spark
To flesh-colored Christs that glow in the dark
It's easy to see without looking too far
That not much
Is really sacred.

While preachers preach of evil fates
Teachers teach that knowledge waits
Can lead to hundred-dollar plates
Goodness hides behind its gates
But even the president of the United States
Sometimes must have
To stand naked.

An' though the rules of the road have been lodged
It's only people's games that you got to dodge
And it's alright, Ma, I can make it.

Advertising signs that con you
Into thinking you're the one
That can do what's never been done
That can win what's never been won
Meantime life outside goes on
All around you.

You lose yourself, you reappear
You suddenly find you got nothing to fear
Alone you stand with nobody near
When a trembling distant voice, unclear
Startles your sleeping ears to hear
That somebody thinks
They really found you.

A question in your nerves is lit
Yet you know there is no answer fit to satisfy
Insure you not to quit
To keep it in your mind and not fergit
That it is not he or she or them or it
That you belong to.

Although the masters make the rules
For the wise men and the fools
I got nothing, Ma, to live up to.

For them that must obey authority
That they do not respect in any degree
Who despise their jobs, their destinies
Speak jealously of them that are free
Cultivate their flowers to be
Nothing more than something
They invest in.

While some on principles baptized
To strict party platform ties
Social clubs in drag disguise
Outsiders they can freely criticize
Tell nothing except who to idolize
And then say God bless him.

While one who sings with his tongue on fire
Gargles in the rat race choir
Bent out of shape from society's pliers
Cares not to come up any higher
But rather get you down in the hole
That he's in.

But I mean no harm nor put fault
On anyone that lives in a vault
But it's alright, Ma, if I can't please him.

Old lady judges watch people in pairs
Limited in sex, they dare
To push fake morals, insult and stare
While money doesn't talk, it swears
Obscenity, who really cares
Propaganda, all is phony.

While them that defend what they cannot see
With a killer's pride, security
It blows the minds most bitterly
For them that think death's honesty
Won't fall upon them naturally
Life sometimes
Must get lonely.

My eyes collide head-on with stuffed graveyards
False gods, I scuff
At pettiness which plays so rough
Walk upside-down inside handcuffs
Kick my legs to crash it off
Say okay, I have had enough
What else can you show me?

And if my thought-dreams could be seen
They'd probably put my head in a guillotine
But it's alright, Ma, it's life, and life only.

Hmmm... "Girl Next Door" by Saving Jane (Marti Dobson...delicious), or..."Blowin' In the Wind" by Bob Dylan.

Only not.

Because I am not cool enough to have either of those songs as my theme song. ::sigh::

Another perhaps better theme song of mine is "Porcelina of The Vast Oceans" by the Smashing Pumpkins, I actually covered this song once. I think lyrics sum me up pretty well.

As far as you take me, thats where I believe
The realm of soft delusions, floating on the leaves
On a distant shoreline, she waves her arms to me
As all the thought police, are closing in for sleep
The dilly dally, of my bright lit stay
The steam of my misfortunes
Has given me the power to be afraid

And in my mind Im everyone
And in my mind...

Without a care in this whole world
Without a care in this life
Its what you take that makes it right

Porcelina of the oceans blue

In the slipstream, of thoughtless thoughts
The light of all thats good, the light of all thats true
To the fringes gladly, I walk unadorned
With gods and their creations
With filth and disease
Porcelina, she waits for me there
With seashell hissing lullabyes
And whispers fathomed deep inside my own
Hidden thoughts and alibis
My secret thoughts come alive

Without a care in this whole world
Without a care in this life
Its what you take that makes it right

And in my mind Im everyone
In my mind Im everyone of you
You make it right
Its all allright
You make it right

Porcelina of the oceans blue

Every time I see this thread I want to sing the title like it's Johnny Cash's cover of Personal Jesus.

didn't Maralyn Manson do that song?  or a cover of it anyways?

It's a Depeche Mode song covered by both Marilyn Manson and Johnny Cash.

When I first heard Manson's cover of it, I thought 'Jesus, he's made it sound exactly like all his other songs.' Then I heard the original; turns out he's just been ripping Depeche Mode off for about fifteen years.

As for Cash's cover...dammit, I love that song, and I don't even like the original.

After, really, hours of tought I decided to choose Vond's "Selvmord".

La ikke livet ta din sjel,
sjelen tilhorer doden.
Finn ingen glede i livet,
for der er ingen.
vi har intet sikkert,
bare doden.
Livet holder oss borte,
fra det eneste vi har.
Doden er ver egen,
la oss finne ver dod.
Selvmord...
Selvmord...

...which translates as:

Don't let life take your soul
the soul belongs to death.
Don't find any joy in life
because there is none.
We have nothing granted
only death.
Life keeps us from
the only thing we have.
Death is our own,
let us find our death.
Suicide...
Suicide...

The Indiana Jones theme song, hands down.

But as for a lyrical song that isn't already somebody else's theme.....Khar got me thinkin' about Skyclad, and The Wrong Song gets me everytime, I can think of no song with vocals that sound more acidic and venomous. Plus it also seems like everybody in the world is completely dense and can't see things right in front of their noses.

Another bad break - burst another bubble
Another lost cause - here's another trouble
Another heart ache - one more chance gone
Another lost chord in yet another wrong song.

Sometimes I feel like I'm standing on a hillside -
Screaming at the world (only wishing it would hear).
I can't deny that I'm tired of your lies
but I hope if I hide that you'll all disappear.

Can a fat man squeeze a camel through a needles eye? -
As hell freezes over the little pigs fly.

Just when things seemed better than before,
Listen there's a "black dog" howling at my back door.

You say I took it all the wrong way,
and got the wrong end of the stick.
Proceed to water down the truth,
then make me drink it 'til I'm sick.

It's a monkey shine - a mare's nest,
a cock and bull story.
You're talking through your hat,
you're full of sound and fury.

You're wide of the mark, on the wrong scent, barking up
the wrong tree, out of it, not a leg to stand on.

Dignity is one thing that you can't preserve in alcohol,
here's a drug to blow your mind - it's called sodium pentothal.
I've smelt more rats in my time than a sanitary inspector,
so every word you start to speak sets off my lie detector.

Another bad break - burst another bubble
Another lost cause - here's another trouble
Another heart ache - one more chance gone
Another lost chord in yet another wrong song.

Truth often hurts - but it hit me like a hammer,
I've been sweating blood for "product" - I thought it was my art.
Would it have made it tougher (all I've had to suffer)
if you'd come clean and told me the score from the start?

Stop treating everybody like a charity
I may have sold my soul - but I won't part with my sanity.

I was a schizophrenic - my better half left home,
The Samaritans don't answer when I call them on the telephone.

You say the cheque is in the post,
and it'll sound great at the mix.
But we have heard them all before,
have we the memory span of fish?

It's a monkey shine - a mare's nest,
a cock and bull story.
You're talking through your hat,
you're full of sound and fury.

You're wide of the mark, on the wrong scent, barking up
the wrong tree, out of it, not a leg to stand on.

so every word you start to speak sets off my lie detector.

The wrong song.

To be honest, there's so many Skyclad songs that could apply to me at one time or another. I had a pretty bad break-up recently, and it put me on to the sitting despondently smoking and drinking for a bit, and, well, what other song could I think of but 'Building a Ruin'? If I had to choose another Skyclad song, though, it would be Something to Cling To. The only time I got so low as to seriously consider suicide, it saved me. I, obviously, think its one of the truest and most hopeful things ever written.

Sometimes life feels like an ocean,
cruel and far too cold to mention.
Though you raise a great commotion - still no-one pays you attention
There's no sail on the horizon,
when the shark-fins gather near,
you watch your chances of surviving scuppered -
(sink, then disappear),

All I need, all you need, all we need, is something to cling to.
(Watch your chances disappear when the shark-fins gather near),
All I need, all you need, all we need, is something to cling to.

As your 'fair-weather-friends' stand waving,
from the comfort of their yacht,
(it's strange how when you needed saving
they conveniently forgot).
The countless times you've stopped them sinking,
fought to keep their lives afloat,
and hauled them upwards, (without thinking).
to the safety of your boat.

AIl I need, all you need, all we need, is something to cling to
(Fight to keep your life afloat - far from the safety of your boat)
All I need, all you need, all we need, is something to cling to

So tired and numb - your limbs now weaken
and you slowly start to wonder;
Should I not admit I`m beaten,
let these waters drag me under?
Feel a peace and calm descending,
ceasing fears, and cares, and crying.
Knowing that your life is ending,
reconcile yourself to dying.

Then as if from out of nowhere.
(and just when you least expected).
floats a single piece of driftwood - by some unseen force directed
It's a gift life often brings you.
when you thought all hope long gone.
sometimes a single dream to cling to.
gives you strength to carry on.

It seems the wisest words that I know,
(three which some dead scholar wrote)
are simply these: - "Dum spiro spero"
meaning; "WHILE I BREATHE I HOPE".

All I need. all you need, all we need, is something to cling to,
(The wisest words man ever wrote are simply "While I breathe I hope").
All i need, all you need, all we need, is something to cling to.
