Elite Beat Agents
« on: 11 Nov 2006, 11:33 »

OK, I bought this on a whim today because I like crazy things every once in a while.

It turns out, this game is awesome. Not only is it completely insane (in the best possible way, I was almost laughing too hard to play at some points), but the gameplay is great and addictive. The song choice is a little confusing, but that doesn't prevent the game from being a ton of fun. I played it for two hours but barely noticed the time going by at all. If you have a DS, you NEED this game. You need it so bad.

You've always wanted to help a dog travel 400 miles to Deep Purple's 'Highway Star', you've just never known until now.

I wanted Ouendan badly but decided against importing, do you know if this has a UK release date? I've not seen one anywhere.

Seriously dude, you have to buy this. And even though the music they chose is sometimes questionable, the game is so much fun it does not matter. Ironically, one of my favorite levels is the Ashlee Simpson song. What the hell. I would buy a sequel to this game even if every level was set to Limp Bizkit's "Rollin'" or Korn's "Freak on a Leash", two songs which I cannot even begin to express my hatred towards.

I don't know if they're planning to release a European version of the game, but your DS can play US games without a problem, so if they don't make a European version, you should just import it.

More people should be talking about this game, goddammit.

The last level (which is awesome by the way, you save the world from aliens to Jumpin' Jack Flash) on the second difficulty is annihilating me. I get up to the third section and just keep crashing and burning.

I first noticed Elite Beat Agents in my Nintendo Power. Is this game anything like Dance Dance Revolution or In the Groove? Or what is the gameply like, because I'm very intrigued by its uniqueness, but similarity to my favorite step games.

It's sort of like DDR, because you tap the notes in time with the beat, but you do it with the stylus and not your feet. The best part about the game is the humor though, but the gameplay is fun and addictive (but pretty challenging) as well.

I'm about halfway through the third difficulty level, but I haven't been playing as much.

Well obviously you do not use your feet. You would crush your DS into fecal matter. I'm not really interested if the game will make me laugh, but I am all for anything addictive. I will see into geting it once I have the money.

Grabbed myself an imported copy of this I found in my local game shop, it's great stuff. The game itself is great but it's the plot that goes along with the action that takes it up to the next level. I'm working my way through three-star mode now and feel like I've actually hit a wall. Practise time.

If you can at all help it, get an import.

I disagree, because I think we need to encourage developers that making crazy-as-hell games is just as viable over here as in Japan, and the easiest way to do it is by buying games like this.

Although it does say 'To be continued...' at the end, so it sounds like Nintendo is committing itself to this game/series in the English-speaking world, which I think is awesome.

Actually, that just gave me an idea. Agent J as an unlockable character in Super Smash Brothers Brawl.

If you can deal with Ashlee Simpson, Sum 41, and Avril Lavigne you are simply a better man than I.
The play is exactly the same, so it's up to which you'd rather hear.

Like I said earlier, unlike Guitar Hero, EBA is a game that actually makes bad music fun to play.

Plus, you get to save the world from aliens to Jumpin' Jack Flash.

I am ever so angered in my quest to S rank everything now. Jumpin Jack Flash on HARD ROCK was weirdly easy to S, I think it's either you fail, or you completely ice it. Trying to rank up past Hero's Hero is really aggrivating

Man, you are way farther than I am. I put it down for a while after I got some other games, but Canned Heat on Sweatin' is still sending me into fits. I think the beat in that song is just too soft or something.

I played this game in a Wal-Mart for about 10 minutes and had to be dragged away. It's amaaaazing. As soon as I get a DS, this will be one of the games I purchase. (Right after FF3, March of the Minis, NEW SMB, DQ9 when it comes out, Jesus the DS has got some good games)
