I can't even begin to list the number of ways this could go horribly, permanent-scarringly wrong.

I don't know, that summary doesn't sound all that enticing.

I kind of agree with Coyne's original assessment: "There's a Japanese girl; she fights some robots; that's five minutes. After that I don't know.''

I imagine it playing out like Passion of the Christ but with robots instead of jews, and a laserbeam instead of a crucifixion.

I think it would be a crucifixion.  It would just be carried out with a laserbeam.  The laserbeam would make the holes in the hands and feat.

I think the idea is positively fascinating and that Wayne Coyne certainly has the potential to develop one of the best Broadway shows ever. I also think David is right.

As a qualifier to my original statement, I'd like to say that I sure do hope that it doesn't suck! If done right, this could be very, very, very wonderful.

I can only hope it actually happens, because I would see it, whether it sucks or not, because listening to Flaming Lips songs on Broadway is just too good an idea to pass up.

This looks AMAZING. I love The Flaming Lips. I would definitely see this given the chance. It seems like Wayne would have a lot to do with it, which is good.

I would love for this to be awesome. What happened to Wayne's movie?

Good point! Wikipedia says it is rumoured to be released "sometime in 2007".

It also says "the movie will be screened at special concerts by The Flaming Lips, creating a unique sensory experience with the movie acting as a backdrop to the live music." Which sounds pretty fun.
