(click to show/hide)So honestly, the show going ahead of the books plot wise has made me more excited to read the final books if/when they come out. I love that Asha is back, reunited with Theon, and getting with Dany in possibly more than one sense ("I'm up for anything really"). But...is this how it will play it in the books?

Recall that last we saw Asha in the books she was a prisoner of Stannis, and Theon was also recently captured by Stannis, who wants to execute him for betraying the Starks. The battle for Winterfell in which Stannis is killed has probably not yet happened, although Dance With Dragons ends with (supposedly) Ramsay sending a letter claiming he did defeat and kill Stannis.

There's theories that this is Ramsay trying to goad Jon into fighting and the contents of the letter are a lie, a "test of loyalty" from fellow Night's Watchmen which he fails (as his stabbing takes place just after getting the letter when he decides to take the wildlings and march on Winterfell), or (my favorite) a bid from Wyman Manderly (WHO NEEDS TO SHOW UP IN THE SHOW GODDAMMIT) to get Jon to bring reinforcements for Stannis and increase the Bolton's chance of defeat.

Do the Greyjoy siblings somehow either get pardoned by Stannis or escape in the battle of Winterfell, and actually link up with Daenerys in a bid to oppose Euron and put Asha on the salt throne? Or does something completely different happen, such as Theon getting executed. After all, it wouldn't be like Stannis to not dish out justice.

Honestly I'm most curious about Tyrion at this point - will book events actually lead him To Dany's side? As well as the lack of Young Griff in the show and what that means for the books, as Jorah replaced Griff and Young Griff as Tyrion's Essos sailing buddy in the show. "Aegon's" lack of presence in the show seems to lend some credence to the theory that he either is not who he claims to be or his bid for the throne will be cut very short.

(click to show/hide)Re: Aegon, I've decided that the show stuff that gets ahead of the book stuff is its own thing, and is no indication of any direction the books will take. Therefore Aegon could easily be Aegon and Stannis might never die (and certainly won't kill Shireen, who is safely at the Wall with her mother). Melisandre is also at the Wall, so her resurrecting Jon will probably happen, but that was telegraphed in the books as opposed to made up whole cloth by the show.
