I'm going out on a limb here and bringing animated romance into consideration. And I'm starting by going even farther out on that limb and recommending Japanese animation. Namely, the films of the one and only Miyazaki.
Last night, we rented Howl's Moving Castle, and I absolutely loved it. The girlfriend and I both agreed we hadn't had that much fun watching a movie together in quite a while. Might not be great for Valentine's day, but worth a watch.
Also, Princess Mononoke is fantastic for one of those all-encompassing kinds of movies. Wild mysticism, adventure, action, and of course, romance.
Both flicks are just great, in my mind.
