I've always thought that Dream Evil - The Book of Heavy Metal was pretty cliche, and didn't Rhapsody actually borrow Christopher Lee for one of their albums to voice a prophet of some sort?  Or Avantasia - The Tower, which had the lead singer doing a fucking dialogue with another character voiced by himself.  And loads of prophecy and gates and keys.

I don't think Dream Evil really count cos I'm pretty sure they're not actually being serious, (and to be a real snob they're technically trad metal, not power metal)... I'd nominate Rhapsody's entire discography. They're ridiculous, and completely irony free.
