Pixar

Ally:
I really like the things that Pixar has done in the past. My friends and I are little kids - if someone said "you can watch Monsters Inc or Risky Business tonight," we'd probably choose the former. I've seen all the Pixar movies, save Cars (how did it compare?) and I enjoyed them all. They're visually appealing and they make me laugh. Not too many movies do that.

Pixar shorts are also typically entertaining; well-animated, fast-paced and clever, for the most part.

Anyways, Pixar has a ton of stuff in the works. I think Ratatouille looks awesome. And have you heard about Wall-E? They're being very secretive about it, but someone linked me to this article. It's a pretty interesting idea (I hope it isn't boring). Since the movie appears to be mostly silent (little to no dialogue?) I hope there is a good score.

So, what are your opinions? Do you guys think that there is too much hype about this animation studios? Or are you big fans?

Cartilage Head:
A few Pixar films have stood out, but to me many of them are very mundane, even for children's films. I really like the short films they make, though!

Blue Kitty:
I have always seen the Pixar movies as the cream of the crop of 3D animation, especially in comparison to Dreamwork's 3D movies.  I know that there are really only a few Pixar movies that stand out, but I feel that most, if not all of them, are almost infinately better then any of Dreamworks

well except for Shrek

jolijn:
They are awesome, but until recently I guess, their movies almost always consisted of someone getting lost or traveling far away, finding themselves and coming home to great applause.

Will:
I absolutely love Monsters, Inc. I'm a big fan of pretty much every Pixar release I have seen, but Monsters Inc. was and still is my favorite. Hell, I'm almost 25 and I'd still pick that over Risky Business.

There's something about children's stories - the ones that are really well done, mind you, not the mindless crap that exists solely for the purpose of marketing a toy and a video game and a Happy Meal promotion, ad nauseum - that I've always found incredibly inspiring.

EDIT-
In case you haven't heard about it, there's a really good write-up here regarding Pixar's upcoming movie. This looks really good, and also looks like it could be a good deviation from their usual story-telling dynamic.
