Most Favorite Calvin and Hobbes strip
ThePQ4:
This one made me laugh, because it's kind of true.

The raccoon strip is very different from the bird strip. I love that series and it's my favorite and I think it is very appropriate for my career (NICU RN) and I reread it often to help keep perspective. Often times we have babies we can't save and this just puts it into words so nicely.
Orbert:
Whoa, I'd forgotten how serious this whole series was. I know I've read it before (I have all the books), but wow.
That's a heavy first post there. Dark and heavy.
sapphiremind:
Well, I heart C&H, and before I registered, I couldn't browse the daily QC discussion, and this just made me have to post, especially since other people had mentioned the Raccoon Incident. I have a "depressing" job, by most people's standards; the hospital I work at gets the worst of the worst and we don't get happy endings a lot of times. But you learn to adjust what your definition of a happy ending is. Maybe it's not the baby going home, perfectly healthy and fine, but maybe it's the baby going to heaven, being held and loved and comfortable and not being in any more pain. I'm veering off-topic, but I love how a comic strip can address that, and still make it entertaining and meaningful.
Turtle:
Agreed. One thing I've always appreciated about Calvin and Hobbes isn't just the humor, but how honest it is.
