Yeah I tried that, too, when I had this awesome Ampeg in my garage, but it's not like I'll ever play guitar with a clean sound. At least not in public.

How are the high notes when you play a guitar on a bass amp? I imagine the low ends to come out really nicely distorted, but do the high ends just, like, drop off after a certain point?

That's not how it works, heh. When the signal's processed, it just puts special emphasis on certain frequencies. It doesn't cut off high notes, it just makes the attack punchier and the sustain thicker.

I know it's popular to play guitar through vintage Fender Bassman heads and the resulting tone is pretty awesome.
Spluff:
Josh Homme used to play through bass amps in Kyuss. He typically used an Ampeg or a Bassman, iirc.
