What, in your opinion, is the scariest film ever made?

I remember watching House on Haunted Hill when I was 12 or so and it scared the crap out of me. I had nightmares for weeks after that.
Otherwise, I haven't been truly scared by a horror movie since then. All they do in that type of movie now is make it really, really gruesome and call it horror. That stuff doesn't scare me, it grosses me out. All I want is a good, non-gory movie that messes with your mind and makes you afraid to sleep at night. Is that too much to ask for?

Oh man, the original House on Haunted Hill was the best. I loved that movie. I still quote it to this day.
