All that aside. I have the option of going to see the polyphonic spree, and most people i've talked to say they're great live (that is the two or three people i know who have seen them) but apparently the club they're playing at is pretty shitty and has crappy sound quality.

what do i do?

Go anyway. Take enough drugs and you won't notice the sound quality being bad.

Sound quality is not why you go to shows.
