I've had some kind of virus since Monday (it's not mono, but close) so I've been lazing around the house watching movies and listening to a fuckload of music. I went to the library the other day and got a bunch of CDs, among them Loose Fur's Born Again In The U.S.A. and The Minus 5's Down With Wilco. I guess it has somehow escaped me how much work outside of Wilco Tweedy has done. I mean I knew about Loose Fur and Tweedy's solo shows, but...
The point being, let's discussing Wilco-less Tweedy Go!!
All I can contribute so far is that this Loose Fur album is neat. That's the only description I can think of for it. It's more or less what I expected given the trio involved, aside from 'Wreckroom' which has a neat (there's that word again) minimalist kind of improv in it. In some ways I think that it does anticipate the laid back, classic rock 70s vibe of Sky Blue Sky, though I don't like to speculate a lot on how bands developed based on such tenuous assumptions.
