I liked most of them...there were a couple boring ones, but it's solid.  If I saw this for say...eight bucks in my local record shop, I'd pick it up.

This is actually rather quite awesome, Khar.

The problem is, it's about 15 years too late.  There aren't a lot of people who appreciate this kind of music these days.

I'd send it to some labels anyway.  There's a (small) market for this kind of stuff.  I have a lot of goth friends who'd dig it a lot.

Hell, one of the bands I'm in is similar to this, only with more emphasis on noise and with vocals.

The mixing is a little off.  Sometiemes the keyboards are way too loud (like on track 4).

Honestly, I'd change some of the song titles.  "Thee Cunnynge Lynguiste" and "Erisian Escalation" and "Kallisti Working" are a little cliché (and I say this as a Discordian).

What labels would you suggest? I have like, another album and an EP more of this stuff. I had kinda wanted to stay self-publishing though...

What would you classify it as, musically, if you had to? Out of interest?

Well, the obvious labels to send to would be Cleopatra and Metropolis.  Beyond those two, I'm not sure.  I have a friend who is on Nettwerk, but I don't think they release anything like this anymore; they seem to only release singer-songwriter type stuff these days.

Genre?  Eh, broadly I'd call it industrial.  But obviously you're working with some elements that go beyond that, so maybe "post-industrial".  You could probably get IDM fans into it, actually.  I think a decent number of people who like m83 or Future Sound of London would like it.  Really, I think it's a slight remixing away from being totally releasable.  I mean, it's good enough that I would pay full price for it.  It's got creepy ambient songs, driving beat-heavy stuff, good use of samples and overall a great cohesion from start to finish.

Is that actually a guitar on "Huxley Orwell Overdrive" or a keyboard that sounds like a guitar?  Either way, it's cool.

It's a synth. Well, a VST plug-in. Rather neat isn't it?

Post-industrial is what I aim for. Its a vague area. Also, man, Cleopatra? Won't I catch AIDS? Not sure I want to sign to anyone of course, or even attempt to...the one label I have considered is Fuck The Music Industry, James Fogarties vanity label, but I think the different artists on that may just be him in different hats. I should sack up and send a demo, though the idea of rejection by one of my musical idols fills me with dread. Man, at least I wouldn't mind a bit more exposure. It's hard for a band that doesn't play live at all...

Yeah, Cleopatra was somewhat of a joke.  But hey, you never know, you could be a catalyst for helping them recover some shred of credibility.

Metropolis would be the best bet.  Hell, it couldn't hurt to try Merge, Touch and Go or even Dischord.  Or even - gasp - Sub Pop.  I mean, Wolf Eyes are on Sub Pop, so obviously they're pretty open-minded.

I just think it would be a shame if you kept things DIY.  I've seen too many musicians who are/were truly great but never bothered to really try and get their music out there, and it's something that frustrates me.

i'm not usually into industrial music or anything like that, but i do like this album. my favourite track is still huxley orwell overdrive.

i also second what zerodrone said: you should send some demos and get this stuff out to people!

Khar it's reminiscent of both new Throbbing Gristle and, surprisingly, stuff like Liars. There was another reference point for it that I'd figured out but I forget it. Regardless, it's good stuff.

I could see Merge releasing this record actually. Maybe 4AD if they were still around, but honestly I can never figure out whether or not they're open for business.

I like it!

I feel like "Analog Rain I" is a better introductory track than "The Culture of Death," which seems really joke-y to me.

Huxley Orwell Overdrive is definitely my favorite song. Equal parts Mouse on Mars, Vitalic, and Old Man Gloom.

My favorite is either Huxley Orwell Overdrive or Heathen Ghostfire, which gets deliciously discordant.  Some of the tracks seem like they repeat stuff just for the sake of being long though.  But I definitely like it.

Wow...this shows how much I know. I had seriously considered leaving Huxley Orwell Overdrive off the album. Thought it didn't fit in.

Feel free to make copies of this and give them to anyone you think may like them, btw. I can upload the last album and the two EPs as well if anyone wants to hear them.

Just finished listening and I really like it. Favorite tracks so far are A Plain Discourse of Evil Powers, Heathen Ghostfire, Analog Rain I and Cinema Inferno. I loved the sample work too.

Other then that, Johnny pretty much nailed what I was thinking:
Khar it's reminiscent of both new Throbbing Gristle and, surprisingly, stuff like Liars.

Also, I might be able to get in touch with a few local lables that may be interested, like Heart & Crossbone. I can give them the album if you want.

It amuses me how the top listener for Halo of Flies on last.fm is Khar.
In other news: I'm really getting into World War Zero.

Well, it makes sense. I try to repeatedly listen to everything I do before unleashing it, to try and see if there's any changes I can do to make it better. I must have six versions of Analog Rain II on my computer.

Plus of course, at the end of the day, I mainly make music with one audience in mind...me.
