The Portuguese Man of War: beautiful, dangerous, and not a jellyfish.  Why you should be aware of it?  Its tentacles can be up to 30 feet long, and can sting for weeks after having come detached from the body.

Like this, you mean?

This kind of colony-forming polyp creature is called a siphonophore. The Man-o'-War has a siphon! (It's closest relative, the chondrophore, doesn't.) Loggerheads eat them!

Rare Giant Squid Washed up In Australia
UH Researchers To Investigate 'Octosquid'

Orbert:
Saw that on the news this morning. Where the heck are they getting the word "Octosquid"? The octopus has eight tentacles, hence the name. Squid have 10. They're all cephapods, but different families. Or maybe orders. I'm not sure where the split is.

Verergoca:
Maybe it has 9 tentacles, causing confusion in the world of cephapododists?
