Untitled JJ Abrams Movie
Rizzo:
Guys, CTHULHU not CTHULU. OKZ? Sorry to be a spastic but it's a pet peeve of mine.
On the current topic, this movie looks pretty awesome. I really like the use of heavy duty special effects combined with standard handicams. I give it thumbs up out of a possible transformers, to quote the current meme.
Kaktion:
I'm hoping it's about Gamera. It makes sense a bit if you read into it: temperature, firefireexplosion, and giant monster? The Slusho website seems to indicate the monster might be amphibious: GIANT WHALE!!! and all the fish swimming around. There's also a dog or something but let's forget that for now. If it's not, that's cool because unlike other trailers this year this one made me very, very, very excited. Just the thought of a giant monster flick, when's the last one we've had a good one of those?
Lise:
I'm sorry to rant about this (especially since I myself was intrigued by the trailer, enough to look 1-18-08 up on IMDB after the showing of Transformers), but...
I think it is ridiculous how much fan attention this movie has garnered (a quick google search will give you an idea of the exact scope). I feel as if I have been unwittingly sucked into part of the viral marketing scheme by even posting on a thread ABOUT the film. Sure, speculation about an upcoming film is great, but are all the photoshops of 1-18-08.com pictures, rumors ("ETHAN HAAS WAS RIGHT!" "No, Ethan Haas was wrong!" "No wait, Ethan Haas was RIGHT!"), 1-18-08 blogs, and silly debates over numerology and monsters ("It's not Godzilla, Cthulhu, or a virus, it's a LION!!") necessary?
Maybe I'm just bitter about how successful J.J. has hooked us all in with simple lures. Honestly, I don't think the movie's concept is all that original D:, just the presentation.

It's sort of like how people died when they saw the trailer for "Independence Day." Although I was a lad back then, I do remember people shouting for the explosions and such. I suppose we're intrigued by explosions in movies and this movie that JJ Abrams is doing seems to be leading with that theory. I'd be more angry if this movie was in some way related to ... I don't know, the Sex and the City movie. Then I would be angry. For now, I'm very passive and a bit intrigued.
