Galactic Civilizations 2 Epic War

Fantastic article

I have to play this game. The epilogue's explanation of the AI's strategies is delicious.

The game is fucking amazing. The tech tree alone is enough to scare the shit out of you when you play the first couple of times though.

this game is beyond my ability to comprehend. i cant even imagine playing something like this. it sounds amazing but i'd have an aneurysm just trying to justify buying it in the first place. plus i don't even own a computer.

Also I would like to point out that the combination of Sailor Moon and faux-Kerouac / Sonic Youth spelling is perhaps the purest distillation of what this forum is that we have yet been presented with.

Honestly, the game is nowhere near as complicated as it sounds. If you can play Civ, but are open to having more than 1 or 2 different tech paths that are feasible, then it's an amazing game. That and the base game doesn't have any DRM and doesn't require a serial key to play single player...

Yes, GalCiv2 is the most accessible epic game I've ever played.  All the detail and depth of the best 4x games, but the game either weeds out unnecessary details or automates them for you, and provides such a slick interface to access it all with, that the learning curve is at worst a half-dozen games before you're fighting the AI instead of the controls.  And since I *always* play research-oriented races in these kinds of games, the endless tech tree just keeps me more engaged.

Man, how have I never heard of this game? I'm totally going to buy it once I get $45 to spare. This sounds absolutely incredible.
