Someone please make explainxkcdhate.com for me.  I took a look at that xkcdsucks blog and have to wonder why the fuck you would bother making an entire blog just to criticise (sometimes at length) something as inoffensive as xkcd.

Look I can't just bold quote parts of this to make it say "Why the fuck would you bother making a blog" because of the syntax but everyone just pretend I did that, ok?

I guess you could argue that xkcd is not entirely inoffensive.

The dude who started that blog is an actual fan of the early xkcd strips. The blog was originally called 'xkcd needs improving' or something (though the URL was still sucks). Now it's just kind of his hobby.

It even says on every page of the blog "[a] vitriolic and bitter collection of unwarranted nastiness about a silly and harmless comic." Perhaps they're aware of it and maybe you should look on the site more or ask them yourself?

Explaining Least I Could Do:

The most complete explanation of LICD is found in this Overcompensating comic.

As far as xkcd goes, sometimes it's funny, and sometimes it's not.  It's a lot like most comics out there in that respect.

To me, the way xkcd will try on just about any joke or scenerio makes it akin to improv, kinda like "Whose Line Is It Anyway?". The consistency isn't there like a crafted, unified routine, but the willingness to throw just about anything to see if it sticks leads to some absolute classics. I don't find every strip to be funny and/or profound, but the batting average is high enough to keep me coming back.

I find a lot of XKCD funnier if you know the math/science/engineering behnd them.  Unfortunately, I do.  i know that if I didn't, a lot of the strips would just be a "Huh?" experience.

The rest is human nature, and that's pretty funny anyway...

Basically looked at that site and read through some of that guy's stuff and what I get from it that if he doesn't think a joke written in a strip is 100% completely original and funny, he's going to get hopping mad about it and go on a rant about how its the worst thing ever, making him one of those people that most can safely ignore.

There was a link somewhere about psychological conditions and how they affect people on the internet, or how people are otherwise normal until they're online, or I guess about how there are people who are such sociopaths that there only contact with the outside world is through the internet, wish I could remember where i read it... I'm going to feel stupid if it posted posted around here somewhere.

Anyway I was going to make a point about how writers aren't perfect and when you're on a schedule sometimes a joke is gonna miss. Jay Leno isn't funny every night and how many dozens of writers work for him? But I'm not going to go into a rage about how he is the worst comedian on television because of it. This guy got pissed at a comic because it didn't properly show the height of Darth Vader. Not to mention I think he was reading the joke wrong anyway. Whatever, lending more thinking time to an asshole just makes me one for wasting it.

Essentially, the logic 'If you don't like it , don't read it' could be applied to the 'hate' blogs as well...  edit: Not tryin' to be a jerk.

Also, not all 'hate' blogs are for humiliation or to hurt feelings.  Sometimes it's just fun to make fun(and to read about it).  Especially when mistakes are made(and even when they aren't).  If you're a mst3k fan or a spoof lover, you probably understand this.  Some of the people who made the movies/shows being made fun of certainly thought they were making something great.  But wasn't it fun when someone came along and started making a mockery of it?  It wasn't to hurt feelings.  It was to make the people who agreed (and possibly didn't)laugh.

I thought that the point of MST3K was that the movies they used were B-grade shit.  I've seen some of the Rifftracks stuff lately and it's pretty amusing because the movies they choose are usually fucking horrible.

A lot of people *like* those movies (both mst3k and Rifftrax, though you'd have to be a real oldie to have seen many of the original mst3k ones in theaters).  Pertaining to RiffTrax, I know a lot of people who loved Top Gun, the Batman movies (tim burton's), Harry Potter, Star Wars, Alien, (you can bet your hinder that they'll do Avatar), etc.   The movies don't have to be bad to be made fun of.   And they shouldn't have to be.

To be fair, their styles are very different.  However, the XKCDsucks blog and RiffTrax have two very important things in common: neither of the groups take themselves seriously and both want to make someone laugh.

Was also kind of sophisticated if it was automated, because it picked up that Khar & I were only talking, then that Jamie had posted photos she'd taken, and also that we were talking about music in the MF thread & suggested another band after the quotespam.  Nice.

I bet that in a few years we'll have spambots that are so sophisticated that we don't pick up on them at first.  That is at once both exciting and troubling.

Even more cunning is a spambot recreating an old, long-forgotten thread with exactly the same title and message. The discussion then starts all over again. It fooled me once.

Supposedly she's the main female character.  You know, the one with the hair.  And arms.  And...uh...

Yeah, they all just look the same because of the artwork.

Or maybe XKCDworld only has one girl and it's secretly a post-apocalyptic love story about a dude trying to woo the elusive "Megan" with his super-cool and very thorough knowledge of mathematics and theoretical physics and such in order to repopulate the planet.  For science!
