Yeah, but the reason Sony catches shit for the price is because nobody WANTS a Blu-ray or HD-DVD player. You can upscan ordinary DVDs to high definition, so what the fuck is the point?

you're probably right, right now there isn't much of a point, but in a couple years dvd will start losing in sales to hd format.
and i did buy 300 on blu-ray. and it owns.

So by then HD format players will be cheap enough that I don't need one in my game system. Besides which, using game systems as movie players extensively can lead to the drive crapping out early. Or at least, that's what happened with the PS2 and original X-Box.
