bands similar to Faraquet or Minus the Bear
« on: 31 Oct 2007, 07:19 »

I am looking for bands with similar-ish sounds to these bands. Particularly, i want to hear cool arpeggios and some time-signature play.

Q and Not U would fit this bill perfectly. Especially the first album, which remains a firm favourite.

Otherwise, Karate, Owls or Make Believe might suit you. If you fancy a challenge you could try Don Cab, US Maple or Polvo.

I would like to second Q and not U, Owls, and Chin Up Chin Up.

I saw CUCU open for Minus the Bear in May, and they put on a really great live show, not to mention that their music was the perfect fit for the show. They're not exactly similar, but I have a feeling you'll like them.

The singer's voice in CUCU drives me insane.

He really isn't that good.  To say the least.  But the music makes it easy to forgive him.  Kind of like Joan of Arc.

I'd second the Medications recommendation, if only because it's basically the same band as Faraquet (they're not quiiite as good, but it's still neat stuff).

Polvo was already rec'd as well, but they're really worth checking out.

Since my Faraquet kick has remanifested itself, I've re-learned to play "Cut Self Not". I am probably gonna do a guitar cover for youtube, but I can't find the damn digital camera.

It might be a little simplified. I can't find tabs for it anywhere, so I have nothing to check myself against, and only my ears to go off of. Once enough people have told me that it sucks, I will delete it forever. Three people.

And thanks for all the responses. I haven't had a chance to check anything out yet; I've been re-re-reinstalling windows xp. It works now.
