Praise Be To All Gods, Okami Is Coming To The Wii
will: wanton sex god:
this is one of my favorite games ever. It's pretty awesome. it's a shame theyre literally adding NOTHING to the game. It's an absolutely direct port+wii controls. sort of a bummer.
Johnny C:
I assume they'll cure it of the occasional bits of slowdown that plagued it. I can't see any reason for that on the Wii, as it's got the power of two Gamecubes combined.
Storm Rider:
And since the Gamecube alone was more powerful than a PS2, as evidenced by RE4 and Killer7. However, I will point out that according to a Capcom producer they are considering adding extra content to the Wii version. Since Clover is no more, it's going to be a more difficult conversion than most, but Ready at Dawn is a good studio and Capcom says that if timing and funding permits they'll add extra content. Which I certainly don't blame them for, because considering how the PS2 version performed it wouldn't be a particularly good idea for them to invest a lot of money in a port.
Johnny C:
It did sell two hundred thousand copies over here, though.
With the right marketing behind it I could see it being an absolutely monstrous seller on the Wii. It's just the sort of mechanic that makes sense on the system.
I desperately hope they'll keep the control scheme waggle-free.

What new content appears in the game, compared to the PS2 version?
Didier Malenfant: The game on Wii is going to be an exact port of the PS2 version and I think that's what fans of the franchise want to see. This game has such a huge following throughout the world that people would probably send us death-threats if we messed it up by trying to add things that don't have their place in the Okami universe. Being huge fans of the franchise ourselves, we made sure that Capcom also wanted to stay true to the original before signing on to do this.
Will the Wii version offer anything to those who have completed the original?
Didier Malenfant: Everyone we talk to is saying that they're going to replay this even if they finished the original. The Wii controls are perfect for this game and it makes the game play come to life in so many ways. There are also people who never finished or played the PS2 version and this will be their opportunity to experience Okami the way it was meant to be. This game is a huge milestone in our industry and we're going to give a lot more people a chance to see it for themselves when it comes out on the Wii.
