Can anyone recommend any good australian music that I might like?

They're alright. They did a song called "No Aphrodisiac" which is really all by them I've heard.

There is so much more to The Whitlams than "No Aphrodisiac". They actually did happy songs as well, y'know. I agree with the suggestion of Fourplay, but I reccommend them to everyone, as well as TZU and True Live (both are Aussie hip hop acts, True Live using strings as a major part of their music). I am in love with Claire Bowditch and The Feeding Set's latest album (The Moon Looked On), so you should check that out. Sarah Blasko is the same kind of sound as Claire Bowditch, so check her out too.
Gogogogo!

Hip hop + strings = heaven.
Yeah, I really do need to get into the Whitlams more. It's really the only band me and the group of people I hang around with can agree on.
Inlander:
Start here.
Then go here.
Lono:
That's awesome.
I guess I'll have to go get a Whitlams album, then.

There's a decided lack of Australian experimental music in this thread. For the open-minded listener, check out Justice Yeldham. Without a doubt one of the most extreme musicians/performance artists around. He takes the stage barefoot, straps on a belt festooned with effects pedals (making him look somewhat like a suicide bomber), and picks up a sheet of plate glass which has a contact mic attached to it.
He then proceeds to play the piece of glass with his mouth, buzzing and bending it, creating a vicious cacophany of noise with a decidely organic basis to the sound. The set progressively increases in intensity and volume, as he gradually crescendoes in a bloody mess, biting, breaking, and shattering the glass over his face, dancing around pulling shards of glass out of his feet and slapping at effects units. Also bleeding a fair bit.
The crowd pretty much reacts with a mixture of horror, disgust, fascination and desire to call an ambulance.
