Athonwy:
Wow, lots of good stuff to check out from this thread. I love finding music I might otherwise never hear about in the vast sea of shite that is the interweb.

I am in a band called Aethyrus.

We play alternative-folk-mope-rock. I guess. I dunno, but it's fun. :D
Our singer, Aerynn, has one of the best voices I've ever heard. We just got a new drummer, so we are in the process of beginning recording again, for the THIRD faxxin time. Le sigh.

I also do a solo music project called Thought Warrior. I just started recording, so hopefully within the next few weeks I'll have a few tracks up. Angry, socially conscious, vegan, anti-human, anti-religion, social-darwinist music.

I just got asked to join a TOOL cover band. So sweet, so very sweet. And I'm recording the majority of bass tracks for two friends solo projects. Between work, music and chasing beautiful women, I have no idea how I have time to sleep. Oh look, I have 3 hours until work. Hooray for me!

ImRonBurgundy?:
"Socially conscious" and "social Darwinist" seem like they would contradict.  Unless you've got satiric intent there, in which case carry on.

Well...yeah.

I confuse myself with my bands.
My I play bass in a band called "Random Article" (even if you hate our music, you have to give us credit for the wiki reference) which is a kind of prog-rock thing. I don't really know what it is, but prog rock seems to fit best (alternating 9/8 to 6/8 to 9/8 to 2/4).
My other band is an acoustic band with three people. A rhythm guitar/banjo player, a saxophone player, and me on upright bass/lead guitar/bassoon. Yes, bassoon.
Lastly is a kind of a personal side project, which is just me and my (ridiculously good) drummer friend. I have some cool ideas for it (making it into a "musical collective" called "The Allusionists" with a double album with one disk being "A Ton of Bricks" and one being "A Ton of Feathers) but I'm lazy and have shitty work ethic, so for now it's just where I put my "Progternafazz" songs. That's Progressive-Alternative-Funk/Folk-Jazz.
Also, whoever was in The Broken Vinyls, I have to say, I'm impressed.

If anyone's interested, my band, Thankful Birds, just posted the full mixed and mastered versions of the songs we had on our myspace from our new e.p., "The Coronado Sessions".  Very jazz-influenced rock.
