Yeah, but when I had long hair it protected my neck and ears from the wind. Now my ears get really cold really quick. It got bad enough that I went out and bought a neoprene half-face mask that I have ended up wearing for the past few days. I was only planning on using it for being in the mountains, but when it is -23F with windchill during the day, I don't care if I look scary, I just don't want my lips to freeze off.

I have a razor that looks almost exactly like the one you have (or have coming still, not sure). It is really nice. Getting a good lather with shave soap takes some getting used to, though.

David_Dovey:
Are you using a brush with that soap? Soap is harder to get going than cream but it still shouldn't be that big a deal. What about a mug, are you using a mug? A mug is usually pretty unnecessary but it often helps a lot with soaps.

That's why coats have hoods! See also scarves and toques. Can't help you with the lips thing though.

Nodaisho:
My coat doesn't have a hood. It's a heavily insulated leather jacket. It zips to the chin and has a full-length placket blocking the zipper, but no hood. Generally I just wear a wool/acrylic hat, and if it gets really cold I have that neoprene facemask.

I use a mug and a brush, the key is to get the right amount of water. I've found that even just quickly running water over the brush gives you too much water with the soap I use. I generally fill the mug partway with hot water, dunk the brush, then pour out the water and shake the brush. If I'm doing more than a couple passes, I usually need to work up more lather as well. Cream would probably be easier, since you can get more going at a time, I'm limited by how much my brush will pick up on the tips of the bristles.

David_Dovey:
Give that brush two or three good shakes after submerging it. That does the trick for me. You've got the right idea with warming up the mug beforehand as well. I haven't used soap in a long long time but I always found that no matter how little cream I used (the general rule is an almond-shaped blob) I always ended up with way more lather than I would ever use.

Gemmwah:
I had a haircut.

IS THIS ACCEPTABLE?
