And personally I think that would be one of the worst possible things to happen to anyone.

I don't get why this one person developing alzheimer's is a tragedy. OK I guess a lot of you like his books (I don't) but that doesn't make this any more important than when normal people who haven't done anything spectacular with their lives develop the same thing. My best friend's grandma has alzheimer's. She didn't know whose funeral she was at last week (it was her husband's). The only reason I can find to be at all upset about this particular turn of events is that someone has developed what is pretty much a really shit condition, the fact that it is Pratchett makes absolutely no difference.
