Sad Jazz

Hunter:
I'm looking for lone saxophonists or trumpeters  that sound, well, sad.  I'm not looking for an artist with just sad horn parts, there can be sad piano or drums parts as well.

Don't just give me an artist, give me an artist and his/her best album, or where to start on their discography.  So, please, recommend my ear off!

Let it be known that I have been completely oblivious  to all things jazzy.

Thrillho:
Presumably you've been through the painfully obvious A Love Supreme already?

Bohren & Der Club of Gore - Black Earth

This is a very serious recommendation.

Joseph:
If you haven't already picked up Miles Davis' Kind Of Blue, you are far behind.

greenMonkey:
Agreed.

Bill Evans with his trio is also quite good (and somewhat melancholy).  I recommend the album "Since We Met".  No horns though, just piano, bass, and drums.
