Our Band Could Be Your Life
Kai:
I meant to post in this thread but completely forgot.
Knowing what I know now, I am going to agree that the book did have a rather limited focus and I'm sure that not all of it is factual, and yes, you could definitely do away with the Butthole Surfers chapter (but I draw the line with Beat Happening; K Records is worth it in of itself). That being said, when I initially read it on a whim after recognizing the title at the library from an internet forum of yonder lore, it kind of blew me away and opened the doors to all of these bands who are actually not all that obscure, unless you live in a nice, homogeneous, white suburban paradise. I read the chapters of this book and scoured around for copies of albums by the bands for ages. And I really really loved them. I still love a few of them, although I've moved on from most of the bands in the book. It's not the greatest written book in the world, but it was still pivotal in my situation to moving where I am musically.
Jackie Blue:
I live in the town where they dropped off Cabbage the naked dancing girl.
Rumor/myth has it that she's still hanging around the scene, but no one knows who she is.
KharBevNor:
Guys, guys.
All the bands in the book suck anyway.
JimmyJazz:
Because they're not metalz enough.
KharBevNor:
Shush, the big boys are playing.
