Duke Nukem forever: New Trailer = end of the world?

--- Quote from: Melodic on 02 Jan 2008, 12:32 ---Duke Nukem isn't SUPPOSED to be groundbreaking. If you "don't expect anything" to be unique or genre-bending about a new Nukem game, it means you value that as a quality in the game, which is most definitely the wrong attitude. This is about killing aliens and blowing shit up, not making the next revolutionary PC game.

Yeah, but the repeated attempts at re-developing it would seem rather silly if the end product was just another shoot'em up. I realize what the game is going to be like, I just wish it could be more. That's just my elitist side speaking though, I'll still play it and enjoy it as much as the next guy.

Fixed.
Has anybody here played Serious Sam? At first it looked like a right Duke knockoff, but I hear they're really fun in their own right.

I swear to fucking God if you are trying to imply that John McClane has appeared in anything short of awesome movies I will fuck you up, son.

I like serious sam. Any comments on the relatively simplistic graphics will be summarily dismissed, since the game is pretty old now AND the graphics were purposely kept simple for the express purpose of filling the screen with more opponents and incoming fire than you will otherwise see in any game short of Ikaruga. Seriously, cross Duke Nukem with the good ol' 80s arcade theme of facing down wave after wave of incoming enemies and you'll have a good idea of what the Serious Sam experience is all about, and the game ran smooth as butter even when it came out.

Actually, the implication was that the sequels were less good than the original. They weren't bad, they were just had more in common with movies like Rambo. Especially Live Free or Die Hard. The original isn't a "one man army" sort of action movie. John McClane is a fly in the ointment, and he gets messed up real bad. That's what makes it so good.
